What is the difference between Remote Fire Watch vs Remote Security Guard?

AspectRemote Fire WatchRemote Security Guard
CertificationsFire watch certification, OSHA trainingSecurity guard license, OSHA training
Work EnvironmentMonitoring fire hazards remotely, often in construction or industrial sitesMonitoring premises remotely, preventing unauthorized access
Employer & Industry UsageConstruction, industrial, manufacturingCommercial, residential, retail

Remote Fire Watch and Remote Security Guard roles share similar certifications and work environments, focusing on safety and monitoring. However, Fire Watch specifically involves preventing fire hazards, while Security Guards focus on property protection. Both roles are essential in their industries and often searched together by employers and job seekers.

Are remote fire watch jobs still a thing?

Remote fire watch jobs are generally uncommon because the role requires on-site presence to monitor for fire hazards, especially in construction or industrial settings. Most fire watch positions involve physical patrols and inspections, often requiring certifications such as OSHA or fire safety training. However, some companies may offer remote monitoring or surveillance options for fire detection systems, but these are not traditional fire watch roles.
