Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a self-driven and detail-oriented Fire Sprinkler Designer to join a growing fire protection team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in fire sprinkler system layout and the technical ability to design code-compliant systems. This role offers strong growth potential, with opportunities to increase compensation based on skills development and certifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and layout water-based fire protection (fire sprinkler) systems using industry-standard software

  • Perform hydraulic calculations and determine pipe sizing requirements

  • Review architectural and structural drawings to ensure accurate, conflict-free system design

  • Coordinate with project managers, field teams, and architects to resolve site-specific issues

  • Prepare and submit design packages for Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) review and approval

  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders in English and Spanish

Requirements

  • Minimum 1+ year of experience in fire sprinkler system layout/design

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (required)

  • Experience with Revit and AutoSprink (preferred)

  • Must have access to a vehicle for work-related travel

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Fire Protection Engineering (preferred)

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • NICET Level I, II, or III certification in Water-Based Systems Layout

  • Experience working with BIM coordination and models
