What is a remote financial job?

A remote financial job is any job in the finance industry that allows you to telecommute instead of working in an office. You can do almost any finance job on a remote basis. Some of the most common remote jobs include accountants, accounting managers, account managers, finance assistants, financial planners, bookkeepers, finance analyst, traders, and underwriters. Depending on your position, your duties and responsibilities may include managing investments, overseeing an audit, or preparing taxes. Keep in mind that while remote jobs allow you to work from home, you may need to travel to your employer’s office on occasion to consult with clients.

How do remote financial professionals typically collaborate with team members and clients across different locations?

Remote Financial professionals often rely heavily on digital communication tools such as video conferencing, secure file-sharing platforms, and project management software to coordinate with colleagues and clients. Regular virtual meetings and clear documentation are essential to ensure everyone is aligned on financial goals, deadlines, and compliance requirements. While working independently is common, teamwork remains crucial, particularly during financial reporting periods or when addressing client inquiries. Building strong communication habits and proactively reaching out to team members can help overcome the unique challenges of remote collaboration in this field.

Kobie is a values-led organization where we believe that everyone is a leader, regardless of their position or role.

Travel Requirements:
As a remote-first organization headquartered in St. Petersburg, Florida, Kobie values meaningful in-person connection and collaboration that strengthens our teams, supports our clients, and enhances our culture. While travel requirements vary by role, periodic travel may be required to support business objectives, team collaboration, customer engagements, training, and company events. Candidates should be able and willing to travel as needed to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.

About the team and what we’ll build together
This role sits at the intersection of Accounting and Finance. In Accounting, we thrive behind the scenes — detail-oriented and meticulous, providing financial insight that helps our organization make informed decisions. In Finance, we partner closely with business leaders, translating financial and operational data into insight that drives planning, performance reviews, and continuous improvement.
The Finance & Accounting Analyst maintains ownership of core accounting processes while also supporting the operational metrics, forecasts, revenue validation, and monthly reporting that leadership relies on to understand business performance. This role is intentionally built as a development opportunity — a chance to grow across both disciplines — and as a connective thread that strengthens how Accounting, Finance, and operational reporting work together in service of better business decisions.
How you will make an impact

  • Accounting Ownership

    • Own recurring month-end close responsibilities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and client accrual file updates and record-keeping for assigned client accounts

    • Manage the full invoicing cycle — usage loads, invoice and credit memo creation, approval documentation, and client delivery, on both monthly and weekly cadences for assigned client accounts

    • Maintain accuracy between GL and BS accounts, and ensure NetSuite invoices are approved and posted to the correct period

    • Support committed revenue summaries and revenue allocation across all lines of business

    • Review of Kobie and client P&L statements for accuracy against forecast, partnering with operating stakeholders to resolve variances

  • Financial Planning, Analysis & Operational Reporting

    • Update and validate revenue in Planful, including client-level revenue, keeping operational data and the financial system of record in sync

    • Support monthly reporting deliverables, including SG&A and COGS reviews, margin-by-line-of-business analysis, and billable/productivity dashboards

    • Partner with client and department leads to validate member counts, billed and worked hours, and new business and fulfillment data feeding into financial reporting

    • Contribute to Monthly Business Review materials — financial results, KPIs, and variance analysis — that leadership uses to understand business performance

    • Support annual budgeting and re-forecasting

  • Business Partnership & Development

    • Serve as a connector between Accounting, Finance, Client Services, and Management keeping data and narrative consistent across close, reporting, and forecasting

    • Identify and help implement opportunities to improve close and reporting processes through automation, standardization, and efficiency

    • Build toward broader accounting and FP&A exposure over time, with structured opportunities to expand scope as skills develop

  • Ongoing Success Measures

    • First 30 days: Learn the close calendar, chart of accounts; P invoicing; cross-department interactions; shadow one full close

    • First 60 days: Complete invoicing, recurring journal entries, and reconciliations with oversight; support revenue validation and Planful updates

    • First 90 days: Aid in production of operational packages and variance commentary; act as point of contact for Client Services data questions; own client invoicing load

    • Ongoing: Close completed within calendar; reconciliations clean and documented; invoices are sent on-time and error free; Planful ties to GL; reporting delivered on schedule with explained variances

What you need to be successful

  • Experience: 2-4 years of accounting or blended finance/accounting experience, including exposure to month-end close and invoicing; demonstrated ability to work effectively in a remote or hybrid work environment

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Skills: Advanced Excel (lookups, pivots, large data validation); working knowledge of general ledger accounting — debits and credits, accruals, prepaid expenses, and account reconciliations; variance analysis and reporting; preferred experience leveraging generative AI tools

  • Systems: Experience with NetSuite (or similar ERP) required; experience with Planful preferred

  • Competencies: Accuracy and attention to detail under close deadlines; cross-functional communication; ownership of deliverables; curiosity about business drivers
