  • POSITION SUMMARY
  • We are seeking a knowledgeable, organized, and student-focused Remote Financial Aid Advisor to join our team on a part-time basis. The Financial Aid Advisor will assist students and prospective students with navigating the financial aid process and provide guidance regarding federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs.

    This position requires excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment while providing timely and professional support to students.

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONIBILITIES
  • Counsel students and prospective students regarding financial aid eligibility, application requirements, available funding options, and responsibilities.
  • Assist students with completing the FAFSA and understanding financial aid requirements.
  • Review financial aid applications and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify missing or conflicting documentation and communicate outstanding requirements to students.
  • Assist with verification, eligibility reviews, and resolution of financial aid file discrepancies.
  • Explain grants, scholarships, federal student loans, state aid, and other available funding options.
  • Monitor student financial aid files and conduct timely followup to obtain required documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with institutional policies and applicable regulations.
  • Communicate professionally with students by phone, email, video conference, and other approved remote communication methods.
  • Coordinate with Admissions, Student Accounts, Registrar, and other departments to resolve student financial aid matters.
  • Stay current with applicable federal and state financial aid regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist with financial aid reporting, reconciliation, audits, and compliance activities as needed.
  • Meet established deadlines and productivity expectations while working remotely.
  • Perform other financial aid and student services duties as assigned.
  • QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Previous financial aid experience in a college, university, career school, or other postsecondary institution strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of FAFSA and federal student aid programs.
  • Familiarity with Title IV financial aid regulations and verification procedures preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate student records.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and timemanagement skills.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive student and financial information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn financial aid and student information systems.
  • Reliable internet connection and an appropriate workspace for performing duties remotely.
  • PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Experience with the New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) is a plus.
  • Experience processing federal and state financial aid.
  • Experience with financial aid management and student information systems.
  • Experience working directly with students in a financial aid or student services environment.
  • Previous experience working successfully in a remote environment is preferred.
