Job description

Baystate Health, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare quality and safety, is seeking a detail-oriented and analytically driven Research Financial Analyst to support system-wide research financial operations.

This role is ideal for professionals with experience in sponsored programs, research finance, or grants management who are passionate about ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and operational excellence across a complex research portfolio.

  • Fully remote work opportunity in the following approved states: CT, FL, MD, NH, NC, OH, RI, SC, TN, TX, VT, & VA

RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Senior Director of Research Operations, you will play a key role in supporting Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA) financial activities while partnering closely with investigators, finance teams, and compliance stakeholders.

  • Support financial management of sponsored research programs, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Prepare and analyze general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and budget-to-actual reports
  • Assist with award setup in financial systems by coordinating documentation and collaborating with SPA
  • Manage invoicing and accounts receivable (A/R) to ensure accurate billing and timely collections
  • Develop and format financial reports and dashboards for internal leadership review
  • Contribute to bi-monthly deficit reporting and support leadership decision-making
  • Process journal entries, budget adjustments, and activity closeouts in alignment with sponsor timelines
  • Maintain knowledge of sponsor regulations and institutional policies to minimize compliance risk
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on financial reporting and systems

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field, required
  • 1-3 years of experience in research finance, grants management, or financial operations, required
  • Experience with computer systems, including web-based application and Microsoft Office, required
  • Experience working with sponsored programs or central research offices, preferred
  • Experience in accounting or financial operations, preferred
  • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of accounting principles, sponsored program regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Lawson financial systems, Excel, and reporting tools.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights
