This method allows individuals or businesses to file paperwork, such as legal documents, tax forms, or business registrations, over the internet using secure online platforms. Remote filing improves efficiency by reducing the need for in-person visits and physical paperwork. It is commonly used in various industries, including legal, finance, and government, to streamline operations and support remote work.

What are some common challenges faced by remote filing professionals and how can they be addressed?

Remote filing professionals often encounter challenges such as managing large volumes of digital documents, maintaining data security, and ensuring consistent organization across various platforms. Staying organized requires strong attention to detail and effective use of document management systems. To overcome these challenges, professionals should establish clear naming conventions, use secure cloud storage solutions, and communicate regularly with team members to ensure alignment. Adapting to evolving technology and maintaining open channels for support can also help streamline workflows.

To thrive as a Remote Filing Clerk, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in record management, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. This role may involve supporting attorneys in a variety of practice areas, which can include civil litigation, family law, personal injury, probate, estate planning, business law, and other legal matters. If you enjoy working independently, supporting multiple attorneys, and adapting to different types of cases and workflows, this is an excellent opportunity to build a long-term role in a flexible, remote environment while remaining part of a collaborative and professional team
Key Responsibilities
  • Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, correspondence, and other case-related materials
  • Prepare and e-file documents in Texas state courts and, where applicable, federal courts
  • Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documents, records, and correspondence are properly managed
  • Assist with case development by gathering records, reviewing documents, and preparing case summaries
  • Coordinate service of process and follow up with courts, clients, opposing counsel, experts, and third parties
  • Manage discovery, including document collection, production, organization, and deadline tracking
  • Schedule and coordinate hearings, depositions, mediations, client meetings, and other case-related events
  • Maintain case calendars and monitor deadlines to ensure timely filings and completion of attorney tasks
  • Prepare exhibits, witness files, hearing materials, deposition materials, and trial binders
  • Assist attorneys with hearing, mediation, settlement, and trial preparation
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, experts, and other third parties
  • Adapt to different attorney workflows, practice areas, and case management systems while providing consistent, high-quality support
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in a Texas law firm
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Experience supporting civil litigation, family law, personal injury, probate, or similar practice areas
  • Minimum availability of 20 hours/week to start
  • Strong knowledge of Texas court rules and e-filing
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skill
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe
  • Experience with legal software like Clio or MyCase a plus
  • Windows-based computer preferred
  • Availability and responsiveness within 1 hour during standard business hours (9:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
Why You’ll Love Working Here
At Equivity, you are part of a dedicated, internally managed team of legal professionals—not a temporary placement.
