The Sr. Manager of Public Relations is responsible for making 401GO one of the most recognized and respected brands in the retirement industry. This role leads the company's public relations, executive communications, social media, and thought leadership strategy. They create compelling stories, build executive influence, secure media coverage and speaking opportunities, and amplify the company's voice across every channel. Working closely with executive leadership, this individual will elevate 401GO's market presence and strengthen its reputation. They will help position the company to compete like an organization many times its size through world-class communications, strategic storytelling, and exceptional brand visibility.

You're a natural storyteller who knows how to create momentum.

You have 12+ years of experience leading public relations and corporate communications, preferably within financial services, fintech, SaaS, or another highly regulated industry. You've built executive brands, secured national media coverage, launched thought leadership campaigns, and understand how to turn company milestones into stories people actually want to cover.
You're equally comfortable building a long-term communications strategy and personally pitching journalists, podcast hosts, conference organizers, and influencers. You understand today's media landscape extends far beyond traditional publications. You know how to build visibility through earned media, podcasts, LinkedIn, newsletters, speaking engagements, awards, digital publications, and executive thought leadership.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Develop and execute 401GO's public relations and corporate communications
  • Build and maintain relationships with national, regional, business, fintech, retirement, HR, and technology media.
  • Create compelling stories that position 401GO as an innovative leader and thought leader in the retirement industry.
  • Own and execute 401GO's social media strategy, including content planning, executive social presence, content distribution, and audience growth.
  • Build and elevate the personal brands of 401GO's executives and subject matter experts through podcasts, media interviews, speaking engagements, webinars, videos, and thought leadership content.
  • Secure keynote speaking opportunities, conference presentations, podcasts, media interviews, and industry events that expand the visibility of both 401GO and its leadership team.
  • Partner with the Events team to maximize the impact of conferences, sponsorships, customer events, and webinars through communications and media outreach.
  • Write and oversee the development of press releases, executive messaging, speeches, blogs, bylined articles, award submissions, and social content.
  • Manage external PR agency, media partners, and communications vendors while ensuring consistent messaging across every channel.
  • Develop crisis communication plans and provide strategic guidance during sensitive or high-profile situations.
  • Measure earned media, executive visibility, share of voice, backlinks, social engagement, and brand awareness to improve communications performance.
  • Help position 401GO as an industry leader by making the company appear like an organization 5-10x its size through storytelling and strategic communications.
  • Attend industry conferences, partner events, media opportunities, and executive engagements as needed.
What You Bring
  • 12+ years of experience in Public Relations, Corporate Communications, Executive Communications, or Brand Strategy.
  • Proven success building executive thought leadership programs and securing national and industry media coverage.
  • Strong relationships with business, financial services, fintech, HR, technology, and retirement industry media.
  • Experience developing and executing social media and executive branding strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to build executive visibility through podcasts, speaking engagements, webinars, and industry events.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to simplify complex topics into compelling narratives.
  • Experience leading proactive PR campaigns that generate measurable business impact.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills and manage multiple initiatives.
  • Experience managing PR agencies, media partners, and freelancers. Must have a strategic mindset with the ability to think creatively while also executing at a high level.
  • Experience in financial services, fintech, retirement, payroll, HR technology, or another regulated industry is strongly preferred.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a drive to create opportunities—not wait for them.
  • Comfortable working directly with senior executives and helping shape public presence.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
