What is remote equine management?

Remote equine management is the practice of overseeing and caring for horses from a distance, often using technology such as cameras, sensors, and specialized software. This approach allows equine managers to monitor horse health, behavior, and facility conditions without being physically present. Tasks may include coordinating feeding schedules, tracking medical treatments, and communicating with onsite staff or veterinarians. Remote equine management is especially useful for large facilities, multi-site operations, or for owners who travel frequently. It can improve efficiency, enhance animal welfare, and streamline daily operations.

How does a Remote Equine Manager typically collaborate with on-site staff and veterinarians to ensure horse welfare?

As a Remote Equine Manager, regular communication with on-site caretakers and veterinarians is essential to monitor the daily health and well-being of the horses. This often involves scheduled video calls, reviewing digital health records, and coordinating care plans or emergency responses remotely. Building strong relationships and clear protocols with on-site teams helps ensure that instructions are followed effectively, allowing for smooth management despite the physical distance. Familiarity with digital management tools and a proactive approach to communication are key to overcoming the unique challenges of remote oversight.

Job description

Equine Network's Premier Equisports Group is seeking a detail-driven HR & Payroll Specialist (Seasonal Contract) to support our fast-paced show season from April through October. This part-time, 1099 role averages 20+ hours per week and plays a key role in both payroll execution and employee support across multiple groups.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys blending payroll accuracy with HR partnership-supporting employees, ensuring compliance, and keeping operations running smoothly behind the scenes.
What you'll do
  • Manage weekly payroll processing for multiple groups, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely completion
  • Serve as a key point of contact for employee payroll questions, providing clear, professional support
  • Review timekeeping, earnings, and deductions with a focus on both accuracy and employee impact
  • Enter, update, and audit employee and payroll data within iSolved HCM
  • Partner with managers and team leads to resolve discrepancies and ensure proper documentation
  • Support onboarding and worker classification processes (1099 vs. employee considerations)
  • Maintain organized, compliant payroll and employee records
  • Assist with payroll reporting, audits, and HR-related administrative projects as needed

What you bring
  • Prior payroll experience (required), with exposure to HR processes strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of iSolved HCM (highly preferred)
  • Understanding of payroll compliance and worker classification (1099 vs. W-2)
  • Strong communication skills with a service-oriented, employee-focused approach
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote, seasonal contract role

If you're looking for a flexible, seasonal opportunity where you can combine payroll expertise with HR impact-and support a dynamic team in the equine industry-we'd love to hear from you.
