Title: Technical Informaticist
Remote role!
Duration : 6 months
Description:
Technical Informaticist - Consultant Role details: This role will develop clinical decision support (CDS) knowledge algorithms using HL7 standards and technologies (e.g., CQL, CPG-on-FHIR, FSH, DQM).
This CDS knowledge powers applications to help clinicians order the most effective and appropriate medications and therapies at the point of care and to identify patients who may benefit from outreach to optimize their medical care.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with HL7 technologies and in commercial software development.
Experience on the development of CDS applications and population measures (e.g., national HEDIS measures) for different health organizations is preferred.
It is expected that within 2 months of onboarding, the person in this role will be able to develop, test, and deploy CPG-on-FHIR and population measures CDS content independently.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Independently author and deploy CDS knowledge artifacts (recommenders, population-level digital quality measures, questionnaires, patient stratification) using CQL and FHIR
• Engage with stakeholders, including clinicians, and contribute to the shared ownership of a product to ensure the CDS problems are solved to meet customer needs.
• Advise on enhancements to make in the tools and processes used in developing CDS artifacts, to improve efficiency and to ensure compliance with quality processes.
• Provide training sessions to internal and external teams on developing CDS artifacts.
Critical Requirements / Knowledge / Skills
1. Minimum 3 years' experience in commercial software development and implementation, including software development tools (e.g., GitHub) and methodologies (e.g., Agile)
2. Additional 2 years+ experience in developing clinical decision support algorithms using FHIR and Clinical Quality Language (CQL)
3. Proficiency with a structured programming language (e.g., JavaScript, Java, or Python)
4. Proficiency with using the JSON data representation
5. Experience using standard medical terminologies such as ICD-10-CM, SNOMED CT, LOINC, and RxNorm, and experience with clinical logic programming
6. Domain expertise and knowledge in informatics, either through a graduate level degree (master's and higher) or through practical experience in health IT industry
Preferred Requirements / Knowledge / Skills
1. Experience in integrating CDS into a commercial EHR, e.g., Epic
2. Experience in Generative AI, machine learning, and natural language processing
3. Experience in FSH (FHIR Shorthand)
