This position is mainly field work and can be located north of Denver.

Your Responsibilities as a Scientist 1:

  • Conduct Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) regulatory compliance inspections on active construction and industrial sites.
  • Conduct Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC) and reclamation monitoring assessments on post-construction oil and gas sites.
  • Conduct stormwater sampling and related environmental field monitoring activities.
  • Use and maintain field equipment.
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret data within various regulatory compliance monitoring programs.
  • Analyze and interpret field inspection records and stormwater control measure maintenance items.
  • Coordinate and communicate with clients in preparation for and during site visits.
  • Effectively communicate, track, and balance project workloads with supervisor.
  • Actively participate in a culture of safe work practices.
  • Define and develop your own professional growth with mentoring from senior managers.

What we're looking for:

  • BS in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, Watershed Science or another related field.
  • 0-3 years of experience with environmental field experience and data collection.
  • Excellent writing and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required.
  • Ability to successfully multi-task and problem-solve while maintaining quality and managing your own time. 
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving history required. 
  • Experience conducting CDPHE or COGCC stormwater inspections, monitoring, and sampling preferred.
  • PEC SafeLand training, 40-hour HAZWOPER or similar safety related certification a plus.
  • Understanding of erosion, sediment, and stormwater control measures, as well as reclamation a plus.
  • Familiarity with Colorado Noxious Weed Species ID, quantitative/quantitative vegetation surveys and reclamation plan generation a plus
  • Light construction, or landscaping experience/hands-on skills a plus.
  • Oil and gas industry experience and knowledge of drilling and production equipment a plus.
  • Ability to load equipment in trucks and safely move drain covers.
  • Provide scheduled on-call support for weekend assignments and after-hours emergencies.
  • Willingness to work an adjusted work week which may include weekends.
  • Ability to travel to remote project sites.
  • Experience researching, reviewing, and guiding compliance with environmental regulations at a Federal, State and Local level; including SPCC, NPDES & discharge permitting preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative work ethic.
  • Ability to pass drug & alcohol screening is required.
