Job description

Description
WHO WE ARE
Come join the company at the center of how the world adopts AI securely. Cyera's mission is to give enterprises the confidence to embrace AI safely - deciding exactly what it can see and do as it reaches deeper into the business. We started by solving the hardest problem in data security: finding and securing data faster and more precisely than anyone thought possible. That foundation is now the essential AI trust infrastructure for the Fortune 1000. We're hiring mission-driven talent to put those leaders at the center of our story.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Cyera is a high-growth SaaS company looking for an Employment Counsel to join its global legal team and serve as the primary legal partner for the People Operations function in the US. Reporting to the Director of Legal based in NYC, this is a high-impact role at the intersection of legal, HR, and business operations: you will own day-to-day employment counseling across corporate, remote, and sales employee populations, and build the frameworks that let Cyera scale a compliant, pragmatic employment practice across a fast-growing, multi-site workforce. You will work closely with People Operations, Benefits, and Finance, and work out of our NYC HQ Office.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Employment Counseling Serve as primary legal partner to People Operations in the US, owning day-to-day employment counseling across the employee lifecycle, recruitment, leaves, accommodations, investigations, wage and hour, performance management, and separations.
  • Disputes, Agency MattersHandle administrative agency matters (EEOC, DOL) and litigation disputes directly. In certain specialized or high risk cases, this will be done with outside counsel.
  • Compensation & Benefits Support development and documentation of sales commission and incentive compensation plans, and advise Benefits on compliance and vendor contract terms.
  • Policy, Compliance & Regulatory Filings Own OFCCP compliance reports and similar regulatory filings, oversee HR and payroll audits, assist in drafting and updating the Employee Handbook, and comment on employment training materials (with occasional live training for people leaders).
  • AI & Emerging Employment Issues Monitor and advise on AI-related employment developments, including the use of AI tools in hiring, performance management, and workplace monitoring, and help shape internal policies as regulations evolve.

Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • J.D. and active membership in the New York or California State Bar preferred, but open to other U.S. jurisdictions
  • 7-10+ years of employment law experience (in-house and/or in a reputable law firm experience advising high-growth technology companies)
  • Business-forward mindset with a bias toward enabling revenue; you balance legal risk against commercial impact and default to finding a path to "yes"
  • Strong working knowledge of state and federal employment law, including wage and hour, leaves of absence, accommodations, and workplace investigations
  • Experience handling administrative agency matters (EEOC, DOL)
  • Experience in litigation/settlements of employment disputes
  • Experience advising companies with diverse workforces in high-growth SaaS or technology environments
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders
  • Strong ability to triage, prioritize, and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines while maintaining ownership and accuracy
  • Able to work onsite at least 2-3 days per week at our NYC HQ

COMPENSATION INFORMATION:
Compensation Range: $200,000-$250,000.
The range represents total compensation, and may include incentive for sales roles, equity or benefits, as applicable.
This compensation range represents Cyera's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of posting, and Cyera may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
