The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who can solve problems and drive results for a high-volume caseload concentrated primarily in product liability. A successful litigator in this role will apply principled legal analysis with a blend of common sense, sound judgment, and creativity. As corporate counsel, you will need to collaborate with employees from various business units, external counsel, customers and insurance providers to prevent or minimize legal risk to the Company. You will play a key role on a dynamic team focused upon supporting our business, and supporting and defending our products throughout their lifecycle. While this date reflects our latest plans, it is subject to change, and postings may be extended or removed earlier than expected.**We Take Care of Our Team****Position offers a starting salary range of** **$144,000 - $184,000** **USD**Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experienceBenefits include annual bonus program; 401k company contribution with company match up to 6% as well as non-elective company contribution of 3 - 7% depending on age; starting at 4 weeks paid vacation; 13+ calendar holidays; 8 weeks paid parental leave; employee assistance program; comprehensive healthcare plans and wellness programs; onsite fitness (at some locations); tuition assistance and volunteer paid time off; short-term and long-term disability plans.**What you Drive at DTNA*** Manage a high-volume litigation docket including review of all pleadings, completion of discovery, fact-finding and analysis, witness preparation, depositions, case management conferences, motion practice, and mediation, arbitration or trial preparation and presentation.* Evaluate and coordinate the company’s response to pre-litigation product liability claims, directing investigations and negotiating resolutions where appropriate.* Formulate litigation strategies, including settlement and trial decisions.* Manage external counsel and litigation budgets, driving efficiencies in external legal spend and relationships.* Assist senior leadership across product, engineering and business teams by informing of litigation and pre-litigation disputes, including identifying potential litigation or regulatory risk and counsel the business to minimize exposure.* Keep informed of new laws, regulations and industry trends that could affect the company and proactively make recommendations for changes to practices and policies.* Monitor legislative developments and trends and, as a result, proactively shape the company’s litigation function and litigation governance to support future strategy and goals.* Develop and deliver training and communications to reduce risk exposure.* Interact externally with customers, suppliers, partners, competitors, courts, and government agencies as needed.* Respond to third-party subpoenas and government requests for information.* Be a supportive team player.* Have the courage to form and defend a point of view, balanced with the humility to accept and incorporate other perspectives.* Blend rigorous legal assessment with creative problem solving.* Be self-motivated and intellectually curious.* Other duties as assigned.**Knowledge You Should Bring*** Juris Doctor (JD) degree.* Membership in good standing in a state Bar with the ability to practice law in Oregon as in-house counsel.* Minimum 8 years relevant litigation experience.
