This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Freelance Dutch Marketing & Product Linguist based in Netherlands.

We are seeking an experienced Dutch linguist to support high-quality multilingual content initiatives for global digital products and services.
This freelance role combines translation, copy-editing, proofreading, and linguistic research across marketing, product, legal, support, and informational content.
You will help ensure that localized experiences feel natural, accurate, and culturally relevant for Dutch-speaking audiences.
The position offers the opportunity to collaborate with international teams and contribute to large-scale localization projects.
You will work remotely while applying your linguistic expertise, attention to detail, and understanding of content strategy.

Accountabilities:

The role focuses on delivering accurate, engaging, and culturally adapted Dutch content while maintaining quality standards across multiple content formats and business areas. Key responsibilities include:

  • Translating English (en-US) content into Dutch (nl-NL) with a focus on accuracy, fluency, and cultural relevance.
  • Reviewing and proofreading translated materials to ensure linguistic quality, consistency, and adherence to established guidelines.
  • Editing and improving marketing, product, support, legal, and informational content for Dutch-speaking audiences.
  • Conducting linguistic research to validate terminology, context, and user experience considerations.
  • Ensuring localized content aligns with brand voice, product requirements, and audience expectations.
  • Working with CAT tools such as Lucid and Phrase to manage translation workflows efficiently.
  • Applying linguistic assets, style guides, and project-specific instructions to maintain consistency.
  • Collaborating with global localization and production teams to deliver high-quality content on schedule.
  • Incorporating feedback and revision requests while maintaining strong communication throughout projects.
  • Supporting ongoing localization initiatives with approximately 3-4 hours of daily project availability.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a highly skilled Dutch linguist with strong translation expertise, attention to detail, and experience working with diverse content types. Required qualifications include:

  • Native or near-native proficiency in Dutch (nl-NL) with excellent command of U.S. English.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in translation and copy-editing.
  • Proven experience translating, editing, and proofreading English-to-Dutch content.
  • Strong background working with marketing, product, support, legal, and informational content.
  • Experience using CAT tools and modern localization workflows.
  • Excellent understanding of linguistic quality standards and localization best practices.
