Job description

Active Interest Media is seeking a Digital Advertising Operations Manager / Director to lead, modernize, and scale our digital advertising operations function. This role is responsible for ensuring flawless execution of all paid digital campaigns, while building a high-performing team grounded in accountability, speed, and customer-centric delivery. This leader will play a critical role in transforming our operations into a strategic growth engine-partnering closely with Sales to improve campaign performance, client outcomes, and revenue retention/expansion. This position reports directly to the SVP of Sales and is a key member of the Advertising leadership team.
Requirements
Campaign Execution & Delivery Excellence
Own end-to-end execution of all digital campaigns including:
  • Display (O&O and programmatic / extended reach)
  • Email marketing / newsletters
  • Sponsored content and custom programs
  • Social and emerging digital products
  • Video

Ensure all campaigns:
  • Launch on time and error-free
  • Are fully aligned with IOs and client expectations
  • Meet or exceed performance benchmarks

Implement QA processes and trafficking standards to eliminate execution errors
Establish clear SLAs for campaign setup, optimization, and reporting
Optimization & Performance Management
Lead ongoing campaign optimization strategy across all active campaigns
Translate campaign data into actionable insights and recommendations
Ensure every campaign includes:
  • Mid-flight optimization checkpoints
  • Post-campaign analysis with clear performance narrative

Partner with vendors and platforms (e.g., AdCellerant, programmatic partners) to maximize results
Drive improvement in:
  • CTR, conversions, engagement metrics
  • Client ROI and renewal rates

Reporting & Insights Delivery
Build and enforce a standardized reporting framework
Ensure all reports are: o Timely o Accurate o Client-ready
Elevate reporting from data dumps ? strategic insights
Provide Sales with:
  • Clear performance summaries
  • Forward-looking recommendations
  • Upsell/renewal opportunities based on results

Team Leadership & Development
Lead, coach, and develop the Digital Ad Operations team
Establish a culture of:
  • Accountability
  • Responsiveness
  • Continuous improvement

Define roles, workflows, and performance expectations
Implement training programs to upskill team in:
  • Platforms and tools
  • Optimization techniques
  • Client communication standards

Evaluate team structure and recommend hiring or restructuring as needed
Sales Partnership & Enablement
Act as the primary bridge between Sales and Operations
Support Sales in:
  • Building smarter, more effective proposals
  • Setting realistic expectations with clients
  • Structuring campaigns for performance and scalability

Educate and train sellers on: o Digital product capabilities
  • Best practices for packaging and positioning
  • What drives campaign success (and failure)

Join key client calls as a subject matter expert
Process, Systems & Operational Transformation
Audit current workflows and implement scalable, repeatable processes
Partner on CRM and system integration (e.g., Ad Orbit transition)
Establish KPIs and dashboards across:
  • Campaign delivery timelines
  • Performance metrics
  • Team productivity

Identify inefficiencies and drive automation and simplification
Ensure rate integrity and operational alignment with pricing and packaging
Success Metrics
On-time campaign launch rate
Reduction in errors / makegoods
Improvement in campaign performance metrics
Reporting turnaround time
Sales satisfaction and adoption of digital products
Client retention and renewal rates
Operational efficiency and throughput
Qualifications
5-10+ years in digital advertising operations, ad tech, or campaign management
Proven experience leading and developing teams
Deep understanding of:
  • Programmatic advertising
  • Ad serving and trafficking
  • Email marketing and audience targeting
  • Campaign analytics and optimization

Experience working cross-functionally with Sales teams
Strong command of ad platforms, reporting tools, and CRM systems
Ability to operate both strategically and tactically
