Marina Consultation and Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Therapist to join our specialized geriatric psychiatry practice located in Garden Grove, California. • Conduct thorough mental health assessments tailored to the specific needs and challenges faced by older adults, allowing for a better understanding of their mental and emotional wellbeing.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that incorporate considerations of cognitive changes, physical health status, and social factors influencing our patients' lives.
• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions, providing both individual and family counseling as a means of addressing the myriad psychiatric conditions affecting our geriatric clients.
• Collaborate closely with team members, including geriatric psychiatrists and medical professionals, to ensure that care is comprehensive and holistic, effectively managing all aspects of the patient's health.
• Deliver crisis intervention and immediate support during mental health emergencies involving elderly patients to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
• Educate patients and their families about mental health disorders, treatment options, and available community resources that can aid in their journey toward recovery.
• Maintain accurate, confidential documentation in compliance with mental health laws and ethical standards, ensuring that all records are kept meticulously.
• Participate in regular team meetings, case consultations, and professional development sessions to continually refine your skills and stay abreast of best practices in geriatric psychiatry.
• Stay informed on current research and advancements in geriatric mental health to incorporate the latest evidence into your practice, enhancing patient care.

This role primarily focuses on the geriatric population, where you will handle diverse patient cases that may include severe depression, anxiety disorders, age-related cognitive decline, and adjustment challenges associated with aging. Working in this area requires a particular sensitivity and an understanding of how historical, social, and health-related factors shape the experiences of older adults.

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT in the state of California is required.
• Strong understanding of geriatric mental health disorders and proficiency with evidence-based treatment modalities specific to older adults.
• High-quality interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient-centered focus that fosters trust and empathy in client relationships.
• Ability to effectively engage and build rapport with elderly patients and their families, recognizing the unique dynamics involved.
• Proficiency with electronic health record systems, ensuring accurate documentation and ease of access to patient information.
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary team, contributing collectively to patient wellbeing.

• A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in the mental health field, ideally with a focus on geriatric populations.
• Experience delivering individual and family therapy, with an understanding of the unique therapeutic needs of older adults.

We offer a competitive salary range of $100,000 to $120,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additionally, our benefits package includes:
