The First Hand Psychotherapy Center is actively seeking a dedicated and licensed Mental Health Therapist to join our compassionate team. • Conduct comprehensive trauma-informed mental health assessments to understand each patient's trauma history, risks, and strengths.
• Develop and implement personalized treatment plans that prioritize trauma recovery, leveraging evidence-based therapies tailored to individual needs.
• Utilize therapeutic modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to support clients in overcoming trauma-related challenges.
• Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, fostering a supportive environment where clients can share their experiences and develop essential coping strategies.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists and other multidisciplinary professionals to provide comprehensive care that addresses the holistic needs of each client.
• Deliver crisis intervention support and create safety plans for clients during trauma-related emergencies.
• Educate clients and their families about trauma responses, coping strategies, and relevant community resources to promote informed decision-making.
• Maintain meticulous and confidential documentation of all client interactions and treatment progress, adhering to legal and ethical standards.
• Engage in ongoing professional development, including case consultations and team meetings focused on trauma-informed care best practices.
• Stay abreast of the latest research and developments in trauma therapy to continuously improve treatment strategies.

Our clients primarily include individuals who have experienced significant trauma, including those struggling with PTSD, complex trauma, and other trauma-related disorders. As a therapist at First Hand Psychotherapy Center, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of patients, focusing on their unique recovery journeys while empowering them with the skills necessary for resilience and well-being.

• Education: A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited program.
• Licensure: Current and valid licensure as an LCMFT, LCPC, LCP, LCSW, or LSCSW in the state of Kansas.
• Skills: Strong understanding of trauma-related disorders as well as trauma-focused treatment methods.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, embodying a compassionate and non-judgmental approach to therapy.
• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and relevant software applications.
• Ability to adeptly manage stress and maintain composure in challenging situations.

While a minimum of two years of post-licensure experience is preferred, we welcome candidates who are eager to grow professionally within trauma-informed practices. Experience in delivering trauma-focused therapies and a strong foundation in resilience-building strategies will set you apart.
