Remote Dealer Development Manager information

What is a remote dealer development manager?

A Remote Dealer Development Manager is a professional responsible for building and maintaining relationships with a company's network of dealers or distributors, often across a specific region, while working remotely. Their main tasks include recruiting new dealers, providing ongoing support and training, monitoring dealer performance, and helping dealers achieve sales and service goals. These managers use digital communication tools to stay connected with dealers, coordinate marketing initiatives, and ensure brand standards are met. They play a critical role in expanding market reach and improving overall dealer satisfaction.

How does a remote dealer development manager effectively build relationships and support dealers without frequent in-person visits?

As a Remote Dealer Development Manager, you'll rely heavily on digital communication tools and scheduled virtual meetings to foster strong relationships with your dealer network. Successful managers proactively provide training, share market insights, and address challenges through video calls, webinars, and timely follow-ups. While you may occasionally travel for key events or meetings, most collaboration happens online, so being responsive, organized, and clear in communication is essential. Creating trust and maintaining engagement without face-to-face contact is a common challenge, but consistency and genuine support help you succeed.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote dealer development manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Dealer Development Manager, you need strong sales expertise, business development acumen, and experience in dealer or channel management, often supported by a bachelor's degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with CRM platforms, data analytics tools, and virtual communication systems is typically required. Outstanding relationship-building, negotiation, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for driving dealer engagement and achieving targets remotely. These competencies ensure effective dealer network growth, streamlined operations, and sustained revenue generation in a remote environment.

Job description

Regional Sales Manager โ€“ Northeast

We are seeking a driven, high-energy Regional Sales Manager to grow and develop our dealer network throughout the Northeast. This is a field-driven sales role focused on building strong dealer relationships, growing existing accounts, developing new business, and converting competitive opportunities.

This position may be based within the Northeast territory or out of our Jacksonville, Florida office and requires approximately 50% travel throughout the assigned region.

The right candidate is comfortable owning a large geographic territory, building relationships with key decision-makers, identifying opportunities, asking for the business, and turning relationships into measurable sales growth.

Key Responsibilities

Territory & Dealer Growth
Own sales performance across the territory. Develop strong relationships with dealer principals and key decision-makers while growing revenue, margin, share of wallet, and product penetration within existing accounts.

New Business Development
Prospect and develop new dealers, identify competitive conversion opportunities, and build a healthy pipeline of new business.

Field Sales Execution
Conduct purposeful dealer visits focused on identifying customer needs, introducing new products and programs, overcoming objections, and closing business.

Opportunity Management & Follow-Up
Maintain disciplined follow-up on dealer visits, quotes, product trials, and commitments. Partner closely with Business Development Managers and internal teams to move opportunities from conversation to order.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Experience in field sales, territory management, or business development, preferably within a dealership-driven or similar B2B environment.
  • Hunter mentality with a passion for developing new business and winning competitive accounts.
  • Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Highly accountable, self-motivated, and comfortable managing a territory independently.
  • Positive, competitive, coachable, and driven to achieve results.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50% throughout the assigned territory.

How Success Is Measured

  • Sales and gross margin performance
  • Year-over-year territory growth
  • Growth and share of wallet within existing dealers
  • New dealer development and competitive conversions
  • Development and conversion of qualified sales opportunities

We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their territory, creates opportunities rather than waits for them, and thrives in a results-oriented sales environment.
