Job description

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for advanced Excel professionals with hands-on manufacturing experience across production planning, bill-of-materials modeling, inventory analysis, OEE and throughput tracking, cost-of-goods modeling, supply and demand forecasting, dashboards, and spreadsheet automation.

This role supports current and upcoming remote consulting opportunities focused on manufacturing Excel task design, spreadsheet-based analytical reasoning, realistic domain task creation, reference solution development, task review, and high-quality project execution. Selected professionals will apply their advanced Excel expertise and real-world manufacturing experience to design, solve, and evaluate realistic spreadsheet tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Excel Task Design

  • Design realistic Excel-based tasks drawn from manufacturing experience
  • Create tasks involving production planning, bill-of-materials analysis, inventory modeling, OEE tracking, throughput analysis, cost-of-goods modeling, supply forecasting, or demand forecasting
  • Use real-world judgment to make tasks practical, relevant, and aligned with how manufacturing professionals use spreadsheets
  • Ensure tasks are clear, well-structured, and appropriate for spreadsheet-based evaluation

Advanced Excel Modeling & Reference Solutions

  • Write accurate, well-structured solutions for Excel-based manufacturing tasks
  • Use advanced formulas, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, dynamic arrays, PivotTables, data modeling, dashboards, Power Query, Power Pivot, and macros/VBA where appropriate
  • Review workbook logic, assumptions, formulas, calculations, and outputs
  • Create reference solutions that are clean, reproducible, and easy to evaluate

Spreadsheet Review & Feedback

  • Evaluate Excel tasks and solutions for correctness, clarity, usability, and analytical rigor
  • Provide clear written feedback that improves task quality and solution accuracy
  • Collaborate with other subject-matter experts to maintain consistency and accuracy across submitted materials
  • Translate manufacturing scenarios into precise spreadsheet instructions and expected outputs

  • Demonstrated advanced, professional-level Excel expertise

Educational Background

  • Equivalent hands-on spreadsheet and manufacturing experience may be considered depending on project needs
