What is a remote COO integrator?

A Remote COO Integrator is a professional who oversees and streamlines business operations for organizations, typically working virtually. This role combines the duties of a Chief Operating Officer (COO) with the skills of an Integrator, focusing on implementing processes, aligning teams, and executing the company's vision remotely. Remote COO Integrators are especially valuable for businesses operating without a physical office or those leveraging distributed teams, as they ensure efficiency, accountability, and smooth day-to-day operations. They often work closely with CEOs and leadership teams to drive growth and maintain organizational structure.

How does a remote COO integrator effectively manage cross-functional teams when working virtually?

A Remote COO Integrator typically leverages digital collaboration tools, sets clear communication protocols, and establishes regular check-ins to keep cross-functional teams aligned. They focus on creating transparent workflows, documenting processes, and ensuring accountability despite geographic distances. CHIEF OPERATION OFFICER / INTEGRATOR

THE PERSON

Are you energized by developing leaders, strengthening teams, and building systems that allow exceptional people to do their best work? Do you enjoy balancing technical accounting expertise with operational leadership while helping a growing organization reach its full potential? Will you naturally bring clarity to complexity and build trust through transparency while inspiring others to reach their full potential? If you're looking for an opportunity to make a lasting impact while helping shape the future of a growing accounting and advisory firm, we want to talk to you!

Our ideal COO / Integrator is:

  • A Servant Leader: You believe leadership is about serving others before yourself. You enjoy developing people, creating accountability, and helping individuals and teams reach their full potential.
  • A Builder of People and Process: You thrive on creating structure without unnecessary bureaucracy. Whether you're improving workflows, strengthening communication, or mentoring leaders, you enjoy building systems that allow great people to do their best work.
  • Technically Credible: You are comfortable diving into accounting, tax, and advisory discussions while maintaining confidence and client presence to guide both internal teams and external relationships. Your technical knowledge earns connection and helps you make sound operational decisions.
  • A Thoughtful Problem Solver: You ask great questions before jumping to conclusions. You enjoy understanding the "why" behind challenges, identifying root causes, and developing practical solutions that improve both people and performance.
  • Honest, Humble, and Accountable: You communicate with transparency, welcome feedback, and hold yourself to the same high standards you expect from others. You lead with integrity, remain calm under pressure, and foster a culture built on relationships and mutual respect.

Our ideal COO / Integrator is excited by the opportunity to help transform a successful accounting practice into a premier business advisory firm. You understand that sustainable growth requires both exceptional people and systems, by finding fulfillment in building both. Most importantly, you measure your success by the leaders you develop, the teams you strengthen, and the legacy you leave behind.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of the COO / Integrator role include, but are not limited to:

Leadership

  • Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day oversight for the firm's Accounting, Tax, Bookkeeping, and Advisory teams.

  • Lead regular leadership meetings, performance reviews, and EOS® meeting rhythms to ensure organizational alignment and execution.
  • Evaluate team structure, identify talent needs, and ensure the right people are in the right seats as the firm continues to grow.
  • Partner with the Visionary to execute strategic initiatives while preserving B.A.T.'s collaborative, people-first culture.

Management

  • Oversee the firm's day-to-day operations while ensuring exceptional client service, operational consistency, and technical excellence across all service lines.
  • Improve and standardize workflows, systems, and processes to increase efficiency, scalability, and service quality.
  • Provide technical oversight and quality review for accounting and tax engagements while supporting complex client situations when needed.
  • Manage firm capacity, resource planning, and workflow to ensure deadlines, deliverables, and client expectations are consistently achieved.
  • Oversee operational reporting, financial metrics, and resource utilization to support informed business decisions and sustainable growth.
  • Ensure the firm remains current with changing tax laws, accounting standards, and industry best practices to strengthen internal processes and client advisory services.

Accountability

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators, departmental scorecards, and measurable goals that drive organizational performance.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, profitability, and the overall client experience.
  • Support the successful integration of new clients, acquisitions, and strategic growth initiatives while maintaining operational excellence.
  • Build the operational foundation that enables B.A.T. Consulting & CPAs to scale while allowing the Visionary to focus on growth, innovation, and client relationships.
  • Ensure cross-functional communication and accountability by translating the Visionary's strategic priorities into actionable plans, assigning ownership, removing operational bottlenecks, and driving successful execution across the organization.

Consulting: Consulting has historically been a very general term which has included general client questions and tax planning and research. However for BAT Consulting, we have expanded consulting to primarily focus on aligning client's financial information with their goals and assist in achieving their stated goals and direction. Consulting work includes reworking client's organizational structures, overseeing all accounting functions within the organization and performing CFO functions, overseeing the financial management of significant company expansion, turn-around consulting, employee recruiting, manager meetings and employee training and leadership development, etc.
