Location: 100% Remote – Candidates may live anywhere in the U.S.

Employment Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday–Friday, typically 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; flexibility available

Annual Salary: $111,000–$125,000, based on experience

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Applications Lead to oversee revenue cycle systems, configuration, optimization, revenue integrity, and assigned RCM configuration staff. This highly visible role will serve as the organization's RCM subject matter expert, providing expertise across payer configuration, fee schedules, billing logic, claims workflows, EDI, billing edits, and revenue cycle reporting.

The RCM Applications Lead will work closely with EHR, Application Development, Data & Analytics, Finance, Billing, and Operations teams to translate complex business and billing requirements into effective system specifications, configurations, workflows, and testing strategies.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced revenue cycle applications professional who enjoys solving complex problems, improving systems and processes, and leading initiatives that directly impact revenue integrity and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, configuration, implementation, testing, and optimization of revenue cycle applications and workflows.
  • Serve as the primary RCM subject matter expert for payer configuration, fee schedules, billing rules, claims workflows, EDI transactions, billing edits, and revenue cycle reporting.
  • Oversee and provide guidance to assigned RCM configuration staff, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely completion of projects.
  • Translate business, operational, and billing requirements into detailed system specifications and configuration requirements.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive testing strategies for new configurations, system enhancements, upgrades, and workflow changes.
  • Partner with EHR, application development, data and analytics, finance, billing, and operational teams to identify and resolve revenue cycle system issues.
  • Analyze existing workflows and system functionality to identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and improved revenue integrity.
  • Troubleshoot complex billing, claim, payer, and system configuration issues and lead efforts to determine root causes and sustainable solutions.
  • Support payer and reimbursement configuration, including maintenance and validation of fee schedules and billing logic.
  • Monitor system performance and data to identify trends, billing errors, claim issues, and opportunities to improve clean-claim rates and revenue cycle outcomes.
  • Support EDI workflows and ensure accurate electronic claims and related transactions.
  • Maintain documentation related to system configuration, workflows, testing, and change management.
  • Provide leadership and expertise for revenue cycle projects, system implementations, upgrades, and process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Significant professional experience within Revenue Cycle Management and healthcare applications/systems.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of RCM system configuration and optimization.
  • Demonstrated expertise with payer configuration, fee schedules, billing logic, claims processing, billing edits, and EDI.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare billing and revenue cycle workflows from charge capture through claim submission, payment, denial management, and reporting.
  • Experience translating complex business requirements into technical specifications, system configurations, and testing plans.
  • Previous experience leading projects, initiatives, or RCM configuration/application staff.
  • Experience collaborating across technical and operational teams, including EHR, IT/application development, finance, billing, operations, and data/analytics.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes of complex revenue cycle issues.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • NextGen EHR experience required
