Reporting to theย Senior Director of Public Affairs, this role focuses on traditional communications functions, including mediaย relations, content development, and digital communications. The Communicationsย Managerย will play a key role in translating strategy into clear, compelling public-facing materials and ensuring timely execution in a fast-moving environment.ย 

The ideal candidate is a strong operator with excellent writing and editorial skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while collaborating closely with public affairs, research, and external partners.ย 

How You Will Contribute:
  • Support the execution of public affairs and advocacy initiatives, including content development, coordination, rollout, and rapid-response effortsย 

  • Ensureย message consistency, accuracy, and quality across all communications outputsย 

  • Oversee day-to-dayย digital andย social media execution, includingย creating content for blogs and newsletters,ย managingย contentย calendars,ย and coordinating with externalย vendorsย 

  • Manageย earned media activities, includingย media monitoring,ย press outreach, reporter engagement, pitching,ย and spokesperson preparationย 

  • Coordinateย with designers, videographers, and other vendors to produceย communications assetsย as neededย 

  • Collaborateย with the organization's research team to translate research findings, polling, and analysis into accessible public-facing contentย 

  • Manageย content workflows, timelines, and approvals to ensureย timelyย execution across multiple initiativesย 

  • Maintainย and organizeย communications templates, assets, and documentationย 

  • Assistย with reporting and tracking communications outputs and performance metricsย 

What You Will Bring:
  • Alignmentย with yes. everyย kid.โ€™sย mission and vision for education policyย 

  • 5-7 years of experience in communications, public relations, journalism, advocacy, or a related fieldย 

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with strong attention to detail and editorial judgmentย 

  • Experienceย with digital communications and social media strategy, including experience managing or coordinating with external vendorsย 

  • Experience managing earned media and working with reporters in fast-paced environmentsย 

  • Demonstrated ability to create visual or graphic materials for external audiencesย ย ย 

  • Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneouslyย 

  • Ability to take strategic direction and execute independentlyย 

  • Sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism in high-stakes or time-sensitive situationsย
