1. Executive Summary & Role Purpose

As Chief Innovation Officer (CINO) for our $65M niche media and marketing agency, you will serve as the executive visionary and technical architect driving our transition into an AI-first organization. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working alongside the executive team, you will establish the technology vision and lead a high-performing squad of software engineers and product innovation leads.

This position balances executive vision with technical rigor. You will own the strategic portfolio of internal enterprise workflow automations—drastically driving down delivery costs and increasing margins—while simultaneously conceptualizing, building, and commercializing proprietary AI products and data solutions that generate high-margin recurring revenue.

2. Executive Leadership & Core Responsibilities

•  Team Leadership & Engineering Management: Recruit, mentor, and lead an agile team of AI/software engineers and product innovation leads. Establish sprint cadence, architectural benchmarks, code standards, and clear career growth tracks.

•  Product Innovation & Commercialization: Identify, conceptualize, and commercialize high-margin AI platforms, proprietary data products, and automated client tools that expand agency revenue models beyond traditional billable hours.

•  Enterprise Workflow Transformation: Architect and oversee the enterprise-wide rollout of intelligent workflow automation (agents, LLMs, orchestration pipelines) across media buying, creative production, research, and client reporting.

•  Executive Vision & Resource Allocation: Define the multi-year technology & AI roadmap. Partner with C-suite peers (CEO, COO, CMO) to allocate innovation capital, manage vendor relationships, and optimize token/compute budgets.

•  Client Partnership & Market Presence: Serve as a high-visibility thought leader in client pitches, executive briefings, and industry conferences, showcasing the agency's proprietary AI and technical capabilities.

•  Governance, Privacy & Risk Mitigation: Establish enterprise governance frameworks, risk mitigation protocols, and data security standards to protect client IP, model privacy, and regulatory compliance.

3. Required Experience & Leadership Capabilities

•  Leadership Track Record: 8+ years of total software engineering and product leadership experience, with at least 3+ years managing cross-functional technical teams (engineers, PMs, data scientists).

•  Deep Technical & AI Credibility: Strong technical background with ability to review code, evaluate software architectures, and guide technical choices in Python, TypeScript, LLM frameworks (LangChain/LlamaIndex), vector DBs, and cloud infrastructure.

•  Product & Commercial Vision: Proven experience taking technology products from concept to market launch, including discovery, roadmap execution, user testing, and go-to-market commercialization.

•  Agency & Media Acumen: Strong domain expertise in digital advertising, media strategy, ad tech APIs, content automation pipelines, or agency operations.

•  Executive Communication: Exceptional ability to translate complex AI technical strategies into clear business terms for executive leadership, clients, and non-technical staff.

Job Requirements:

  • 15%–20% travel may be required.
  • The applicant selected for this position may be required to successfully complete a background check. Passing results must be received before the start date in the new positio

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent computer terminal and keyboard use.
  • Ability to sit, bend, and squat as needed.
