Job summary

Reporting to the Manager of External Quality, the External Quality Associate is responsible for providing support in the assessment and ongoing management of External Suppliers, Vendors and other service providers to Aurora.

Major Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Represent Quality dept. as an ambassador for regulatory compliance regarding GMP, Cannabis Act & Regulations, and company policies and procedures.
  • Assess documentation provided by suppliers and vendors against applicable regulatory and Aurora Quality and Safety requirements
  • Carry out on site or virtual audits of supplier facilities and quality systems.
  • Prepare audit plans, audit reports and CAPA plans for potential and existing suppliers.
  • Develop and improve Corporate Quality Procedures and Processes
  • Effectively communicate Aurora standards, concerns and or requirements to external parties.
  • Effectively communicate product quality/safety related updates/alerts to all sites.
  • Effectively communicate/share learnings from external audits to all sites.
  • Coordinate Quality Assurance Agreements and Product Data sheets with suppliers.
  • Monitor vendor performance, analyze and execute on any negative vendor trends or issues.
  • Conduct training sessions for staff related to corporate External Quality SOPs and policies.
  • Act as proxy for Manager, External Quality system in event of their absence.
  • Represent Aurora in a professional and ethical manner in business relationships with suppliers.
  • Assist in Internal site audits as required
  • Assist/backup the Quality team as needed.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education & Experience:

   Four (4) year degree required, preferably with scientific, engineering, regulatory, audit core concentration
   Minimum 3 years' experience in Quality, Regulatory, Technical, or Manufacturing Operations in the area of quality compliance preferably in the cannabis or pharmaceutical industry
   Minimum 1 year experience in auditing of Quality Systems    Professional certifications in Quality Auditing and assessment are very desirable    Strong communication, teamwork, problem solving, decision-making, and root cause analysis skills are required
   Demonstrated knowledge/application of practical quality assurance and quality system elements
   Ability to travel across North America
