POSITION PURPOSE
The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst plays a crucial role in driving SAFE Credit Union's information driven decision-making capabilities. This position is responsible for transforming complex data into actionable insights that support decision making, strategic initiatives and operational excellence across the organization. Key aspects of this role include:
 
  • Leveraging advanced business intelligence tools and modern data mining techniques to create and maintain interactive information experiences including meaningful dashboards and reports to meet businesses data insights, data trending, data visualization and information requirements.
  • Serving as a key liaison between business units and the BI team, collaborate with subject matter experts, analysts, engineers and other team members for translating business needs into technical requirements and information experience solutions and strategies.
  • Supporting the design and implementation of data models, analytics processes, and reporting systems that drive efficiency and effectiveness across the organization.
  • Championing data literacy and fostering a data-driven culture by providing guidance and training on leveraging BI tools and interpreting data insights.
  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of data governance practices, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Staying at the forefront of BI trends and technologies, continuously seeking innovative ways to enhance the organization's data capabilities and competitive edge.
 
This role is essential in empowering SAFE Credit Union to harness the full potential of its data assets, driving growth, operational efficiency, and enhanced member experiences through advanced analytics and insights.
 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES 
  • Develop and deliver advanced information experience for strategical, operational, financial analytics, including interactive visualizations and dashboards that track performance, identify trends, and support strategic decision-making across the organization.
  • Partner with Data Engineering to optimize data architecture, ensuring efficient data storage, retrieval, and integration for BI tools, with a focus on scalability and performance.
  • Use a variety of data sources and software applications to query, build, analyze, validate and draw conclusions from large amounts of transaction and member data including advance analytics techniques and tools R, PowerBI.
  • Manage and prioritize ad hoc and routine data/report requests ensuring timely delivery while adhering to governance and security policies and identifying opportunities to create self-service analytics solutions.
  • Collaborate with channel leadership to develop, implement, and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and value models that evaluate the success of channel initiatives and overall strategy.
  • Support the design and implementation of complex, multi-dimensional data models, star schemas and de-normalized data structures to support advanced reporting and analytics needs across the organization.
  • Collaborate with the Data Governance team to ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance with regulatory requirements in all BI initiatives.
  • Design and implement data visualization best practices, creating standardized templates and style guides for dashboards and reports across the organization.
  • Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance on complex BI projects, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Conduct regular stakeholder meetings to gather requirements, present findings, and ensure BI solutions align with evolving business needs.
  • Evaluate and recommend new BI tools and technologies to enhance the organization's data capabilities and streamline analytics processes.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for BI processes, data models, and reporting systems to ensure knowledge transfer and operational continuity.
  • Provide technical assistance and support at Subject matter expert (level 3 and level 4 ) to ensure the availability of the critical business information and intelligence solutions as defined in service level agreements.
  • Provide education , training and guidance on how best to leverage business intelligence (BI) tools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, IT, Business Management, Mathematics, or related quantitative field, and a minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in business intelligence and analytics roles. Financial institution experience is a plus.

  • Significant knowledge and experience in managing and executing data management initiatives.
  • Strong ability to explain advanced data concepts to both database developers and architects, non-technical end users, and senior executives.
  • Ability to understand business needs and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL (including T-SQL and PL/SQL), with the ability to optimize complex queries for large-scale data environments.
  • Experience developing requirements for business intelligence (BI), master data management, and functional data projects.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Power Query, and Power Pivot, with the ability to create complex data models and DAX calculations.
  • Experience with complex SQL joins, groups, views and other relational database concepts.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft BI stack (SSRS, SSAS, Power BI), including development of enterprise-level reports, dashboards, and tabular models.
  • Advanced data visualization skills using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or similar, with a strong understanding of data visualization best practices and user experience design.
  • Query, cleanse, manipulate, and aggregate data from a data warehouse, data lake, and/or data marts.
  • Develop procedures, processes and routines that ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to act autonomously while being a team player.
  • Familiarity and experience working with Agile methodologies, Continuous Integration and continuous development techniques, Collaborative and versioning tools.
