Job description

Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Information Technology, is responsible for the strategic direction, security, administration, and day-to-day operation of Gemini Pharmaceuticals' technology infrastructure and business systems. Reporting to the Controller, this hands-on leadership role oversees network infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud services, end-user computing, and technology support across multiple facilities.

The Senior Manager, IT will directly supervise one IT Support Specialist while coordinating with third-party technology partners, managed service providers, ERP consultants, and software vendors to ensure reliable, secure, and compliant IT operations. This position serves as the organization's primary technology leader and is responsible for aligning technology initiatives with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and operational needs within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with practical leadership skills and a willingness to remain actively involved in infrastructure management, troubleshooting, cybersecurity, and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

IT Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and execute a multi-year technology roadmap that supports business growth, operational efficiency, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with executive leadership to identify technology solutions that improve productivity, collaboration, and business performance.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the IT Support Specialist, ensuring timely and effective support services.
  • Establish IT policies, procedures, and best practices that support business operations and regulatory requirements.

Infrastructure & Systems Management

  • Administer and maintain all network, server, cloud, telecommunications, and endpoint infrastructure.
  • Manage and optimize Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, Exchange Online, Teams, and related Microsoft technologies.
  • Oversee system performance, patch management, upgrades, and lifecycle planning for hardware and software assets.
  • Ensure reliable operation of IT systems supporting office, warehouse, manufacturing, laboratory, and remote users.
  • Coordinate implementation of new technologies and infrastructure improvements.

Cybersecurity & Risk Management

  • Lead the organization's cybersecurity program and continuously strengthen security controls.
  • Manage identity and access management, multi-factor authentication, conditional access policies, privileged access controls, and endpoint security.
  • Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability management activities, and security awareness training.
  • Develop and maintain incident response procedures and coordinate remediation efforts when security events occur.
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity insurance requirements and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate third-party security assessments, penetration testing, and remediation initiatives.

Vendor & Third-Party Management

  • Manage relationships with managed service providers, telecommunications vendors, cybersecurity partners, software providers, and hardware suppliers.
  • Coordinate support activities with third-party ERP consultants and business application vendors.
  • Negotiate contracts, manage renewals, and monitor vendor performance to ensure service quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for technology-related vendor engagements.

Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery

  • Develop, maintain, and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Oversee backup and recovery strategies for critical systems and business data.
  • Ensure technology resilience and rapid recovery capabilities in the event of system failures, natural disasters, or cybersecurity incidents.
  • Conduct periodic testing and documentation of recovery procedures.

Compliance & Validation

  • Support compliance with applicable cGMP regulations, including 21 CFR Part 11 and related pharmaceutical industry requirements.
  • Partner with Quality, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams to ensure validated systems remain compliant and audit-ready.
  • Lead or support Computer System Validation (CSV) activities and documentation as required.
  • Maintain IT documentation, policies, procedures, and records required for audits and inspections.
  • Ensure appropriate controls are in place to protect electronic records and maintain data integrity.

Service & Asset Management

  • Oversee daily IT support operations and establish service-level expectations for issue resolution.
  • Monitor help desk performance and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Manage the lifecycle of IT assets from procurement through secure disposal.
  • Maintain accurate inventories of hardware, software, licenses, and technology assets.
  • Ensure proper documentation of systems, configurations, and support procedures.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
  • 8-12 years of progressive IT experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of leadership or senior technical experience.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, manufacturing, life sciences, or other regulated industries preferred.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong experience administering Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, Exchange Online, and Azure services.
  • Advanced knowledge of network infrastructure, firewalls, wireless networking, VPNs, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Experience managing enterprise backup solutions, disaster recovery programs, and business continuity planning.
  • Familiarity with virtualization, cloud technologies, endpoint management, and security platforms.
  • Experience supporting regulated environments and validated systems preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and application issues.

Leadership Competencies

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
