Broker Specialist โ€“ E&S Underwriting - Manufacturing & Products Liability Focus

Position Summary

This role may be located in our Scottsdale, AZ office or western US locations.

The Broker Specialist serves as the primary new business underwriter and relationship manager for a designated market segment, with a focus on Manufacturing and Products Liability risks. This is a forward-facing, production-driven role responsible for developing and maintaining strong wholesale broker partnerships, driving new business growth, and supporting renewal retention.

This individual combines underwriting discipline with strong sales acumen to deliver tailored insurance solutions, achieve production goals, and contribute to overall portfolio profitability.


Key ResponsibilitiesUnderwriting & Production
  • Serve as the lead underwriter for new business opportunities within the assigned market segment
  • Evaluate risk, determine pricing, and structure competitive and profitable coverage solutions
  • Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing directly with broker partners
  • Maintain a robust pipeline to meet or exceed new business production targets
  • Monitor rate adequacy and ensure alignment with underwriting guidelines and profitability benchmarks
  • Contribute insights toward portfolio management strategies
Broker Relationship Management
  • Develop and execute broker engagement strategies to build long-term, productive partnerships
  • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned wholesale brokers
  • Provide timely, responsive service and strategic underwriting guidance
  • Conduct regular in-person and virtual broker visits to strengthen relationships and drive submissions
  • Represent the company at industry events, broker meetings, and conferences
Collaboration & Execution
  • Partner with internal underwriting, actuarial, and support teams to deliver competitive quotes and solutions
  • Support renewal retention efforts across assigned broker accounts
  • Provide market feedback to inform underwriting strategy and product development
  • Recommend enhancements to underwriting guidelines and product offerings based on emerging trends
Operational Excellence
  • Maintain accurate, complete documentation in underwriting systems
  • Leverage technology, including AI-enabled tools, to drive efficiency and productivity
  • Adhere to established productivity standards and performance metrics
  • Monitor market trends, competitive positioning, and broker feedback

  • Strong, durable broker relationships generating consistent submission flow
  • High-quality underwriting decisions with disciplined pricing
  • Meaningful contributions to portfolio performance and product evolution

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field preferred
  • 3โ€“5+ years of experience in E&S underwriting or broker-facing insurance sales
  • Demonstrated success in new business production and broker relationship management
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills
  • In-depth knowledge of E&S market dynamics and wholesale distribution channels
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
  • Proficiency in underwriting systems and Microsoft Office Suite
