Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly residents to pinpoint specific psychological needs and concerns.
• Provide tailored individual and group counseling sessions addressing the emotional complexities related to aging, such as anxiety, depression, and adjustment disorders.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to devise and implement comprehensive care plans, ensuring holistic support for geriatric clients.
• Educate family members and staff on techniques to foster emotional well-being and improve the quality of life for elderly individuals.
• Offer grief and loss counseling services, aiding residents and their families in navigating end-of-life issues and bereavement.
• Design and facilitate cognitive stimulation interventions and mental health programs aimed at enhancing mental acuity and emotional resilience in aging clients.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily focuses on elderly individuals, many of whom may be experiencing significant life changes, such as loss of independence or coping with the death of loved ones. Qualifications

• A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from a recognized and accredited institution.
• A current, valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
• A minimum of 4 years of recent clinical experience specifically within geriatric counseling and mental health support.
• Training or specialization in geriatric mental health, along with active engagement in ongoing professional development.
