Job description

About Bridgeway Foundation LBG

At the Bridgeway Foundation, we are dedicated to empowering women, girls, and youth and strengthening our community through innovative programs and services. As a nonprofit organization committed to fostering growth, resilience, and opportunity, we strive to create a supportive environment where all individuals can build their Pathway to Success through education, healthcare, skill building, and employment.

Vision: To build a world where no one is forgotten, where kindness prevails, opportunities are shared, and every person, regardless of ability or background, has the chance to live a life of purpose, dignity, and fulfillment.

Mission: To serve as a sanctuary of hope and support for the most vulnerable, uplifting lives through compassion-driven outreach, disability support, education, health care, and economic empowerment. We are committed to restoring dignity, providing essential resources, and fostering opportunities that help individuals and communities thrive.

Guiding Principles:

  • Accessibility
  • Education
  • Implementation

The BoD of Bridgeway Foundation serves as the governing body responsible for oversight, strategic planning, financial stewardship, and mission advancement of the organization. The BoD collaborates with the Founder and Advisory Council to uphold Bridgeway Foundation's vision, mission, and guiding principles. The Board coordinates day-to-day operations, programming, and brand identity. The implementation of an Executive Director will be a collaboration.

About the board role:

Board members will partner with the Advisory Council to develop and uphold organizational policies and procedures while providing strategic oversight of planning, evaluation, and program implementation. All BoD members:

  • Attend all board meetings and review the agenda and supporting materials before board and committee meetings. NOTE: Meetings are not held in July and August; however, there may also be an annual retreat or an orientation for new members, which the BoD is expected to attend.
  • Participate in committee work as appointed.
  • Attend the annual retreat and at least three (3) Bridgeway Foundation events annually.
  • Adhere to Robert's Rules of Order during Board proceedings
  • Maintain corporate bylaws and governance practices
  • Strengthen organizational sustainability and institutional capacity
  • Provide written notice for meeting absences when applicable
  • Serve on at least one standing committee and/or task force and actively participate in committee work, including attending committee meetings, which are held at the discretion of the committee chair(s) and are typically convened virtually.
  • Partner with the Founder and Advisory Council to ensure board resolutions are carried out
  • Act as an ambassador for the Bridgeway Foundation.
  • Promote Bridgeway Foundation's commitment to a diverse board that reflects the communities it serves.
  • BoD members serve the mission by raising funds and building awareness. It is a very active role that requires approximately 3 hours each month.
  • Members who are successful in this role: Make a personal donation of $500 or more annually to further the Bridgeway Foundation's cause and demonstrate their leadership commitment.
  • Raise $1,000 or more a year in donations by introducing the Bridgeway Foundation LBG's cause to their personal and professional network – securing donations from individuals, companies, community groups, and foundations.

Board Qualifications & Skillset

We are forming an inaugural Board of Directors and want to assemble a well-rounded, capable board that is motivated to support the success and growth of Bridgeway Foundation LBG. We currently have three (5) board positions open and would like to fill them with individuals with substantial experience in financial management, brand identity, programming, and/or governance. Other skill sets/capabilities/knowledge that are important to us are:

  • Legal issues related to nonprofits
  • Equity and Diversity
  • Marketing
  • Social Media
  • Public Schools/Literacy initiatives
  • Program Development
  • Nonprofit management and fundraising

Benefits of Service

  • Opportunity to shape a growing, community-centered nonprofit
  • Direct impact on girls' education, youth leadership, and women's empowerment initiatives
  • Collaboration with mission-aligned leaders and partners
  • Meaningful civic engagement

Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

To fully achieve our mission and realize our vision, our Board is composed of individuals with perspectives drawn from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds, skill sets, areas of expertise, and lived experiences.

We are committed to creating a board that is diverse in its composition, inclusive in its culture, and equity-focused in its approach to its mission, work, and the communities it serves.
