Since 2015, Lincoln-Goldfinch Law has helped thousands of immigrant families navigate one of the most complex systems in the world, and we've built a team that genuinely cares about every single one of them. We're 110 people strong, award-winning, and growing fast. Our clients come to us during some of the most critical moments of their lives. That responsibility shapes everything about how we work.

We're a team that shows up for each other. "That's not my job" doesn't exist here. When something needs to get done, we step up. We celebrate wins together, work through challenges together, and hold ourselves to a high standard, not because we have to, but because we believe our clients deserve nothing less.

If that sounds like your kind of place, keep reading.

The role:

We're hiring a Bilingual Immigration Detained Attorney (English/Spanish) to support our legal team in representing individuals in removal proceedings, with a strong focus on detained clients, while maintaining familiarity with broader immigration practice areas.

This is not a passive, advisory-only role. You'll actively manage cases, appear before immigration courts, prepare filings, advocate for clients facing removal, and guide individuals through some of the most complex and time-sensitive moments of their lives.

You'll report directly to the Managing Attorney and play a hands-on role in case strategy, client advocacy, and court representation. Success in this role requires legal precision, strong courtroom skills, urgency, and genuine compassion for the clients we serve.

We're looking for someone who is confident in navigating removal defense matters, experienced with detained dockets, and capable of delivering exceptional legal representation while maintaining professionalism and empathy in every client interaction.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

Removal Defense & Court Representation

  • Represent clients in immigration court, including removal defense, asylum, cancellation of removal, adjustment of status, and bond hearings before EOIR
  • Advocate for detained clients and manage detained dockets with urgency and attention to detail
  • Prepare and present legal arguments in court proceedings and hearings
  • Handle appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals and other relevant courts
  • Assist with or manage habeas-related matters involving detained clients

Client Strategy & Advocacy

  • Meet with clients to assess immigration needs and determine viable legal strategies
  • Advise clients on immigration options, risks, timelines, and case expectations
  • Advocate for individuals seeking asylum and other humanitarian forms of relief
  • Prepare clients for interviews, hearings, and court appearances to ensure they feel informed and confident throughout the process
  • Maintain consistent communication and provide compassionate guidance during complex legal proceedings

Case Preparation & Filings

  • Prepare, review, and file a variety of immigration applications and petitions
  • Draft motions, briefs, declarations, legal memoranda, and supporting evidence packets
  • Manage deadlines and filing requirements while ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Build strong evidentiary records and well-supported legal arguments for court and agency review

Legal Excellence & Team Collaboration

  • Stay current on immigration laws, regulations, procedures, and policy changes
  • Apply legal developments to active and future case strategies
  • Collaborate with legal assistants and support staff to ensure efficient case management
  • Provide guidance to internal teams regarding case strategy and client-related inquiries
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required
  • 2+ years of immigration law experience, with experience in removal defense and detained-client representation, while maintaining familiarity with broader immigration practice areas.
  • Active and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas
  • Experience appearing before Immigration Courts and EOIR proceedings
  • Experience handling family-based and humanitarian-based immigration matters
  • Exposure to or experience with habeas petitions involving detained clients
  • Strong legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management abilities
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Proficient with Google Workspace and comfortable learning new technologies
  • Experience working collaboratively with legal assistants and support staff
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited U.S. law school

YOU'RE THE RIGHT PERSON IF YOU

  • Can confidently advocate for clients under pressure and in high-stakes situations
  • Balance urgency with compassion when working with vulnerable populations
  • Take ownership of your caseload while collaborating effectively with your team
  • Pay close attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger legal strategy
  • Communicate clearly with clients, courts, and colleagues alike
  • Believe deeply in the mission of helping immigrant families build safer, more secure futures

OUR CORE VALUES

  • Base salary: $95,000$120,000, depending on experience
  • Bonus eligible
  • Remote work environment with occasional in-person attendance required for court hearings and client interviews
  • 401(k) and 401(k) matching
