Our client needs to increase the capability level and workload capacity of the Accounting team so that the part-time CFO can focus on higher-level responsibilities.

  1. Manage financial accounts for the Parent company & 1 subsidiary across several different lines of business
  2. Well-developed knowledge of US accounting practices (GAAP)
  3. Demonstrated experience overseeing the accounting staff
  4. Project management experience and the ability to identify problems, research solutions, propose plans of action and implement change.
  5. Proven experience and comfort with technology, including implementation of software and technology solutions to automate or improve processes

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. People Management & Training:

  • Oversee 1 full-time bookkeeper on staff
  • Improve SOPs and processes

2. Tax:

  • Complete US Sales tax payments
  • Oversee VAT payments for the UK, Canada

3. A/P & A/R:

  • Oversee Bill.com AP/AR process
  • Approve payroll and large vendor payments
  • Expense reduction/audit/reconciliation
  • Monitor the SAAS subscription database
  • Oversee customer financial accounts including invoice financing

4. Reporting:

  • Preparing & analyzing monthly financials
  • Budget vs actual reporting
  • Cash forecast by leveraging Inventory Planner

5. Process Improvement:

  • Review and update a monthly close task list
  • Technology implementation
Qualifications

SKILLSET

  • Leadership - Demonstrated ability to work in a leadership role and supervise junior-level subordinates
  • Extremely organized and process driven. Able to create, manage, and improve complex processes and automate time-consuming tasks
  • Trustworthy and reliable at handling confidential financial information with discretion.
  • Must be an outstanding communicator, and have established skills in accuracy, organization, and working in a high-volume environment
  • Have a keen eye for detail, particularly with pattern recognition in large data sets and with numbers & financial information
  • Solutions-oriented mindset - identifies problems and proposes a solution
  • Project management experience - implementing workflows, systems, software, etc
  • Innovative - Someone who is excited about the role and ready to bring new ideas to the table

EXPERIENCE

  • Working knowledge of tax filing and tax compliance as it pertains to state and federal-level regulations
  • Significant hands-on experience with Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Xero or Quickbooks Online, and inventory management software
  • Five years of experience working with small to mid-size businesses with high-volumes of transactions
  • Significant inventory experience (3-5+ years at an inventory-based company - import/export, ecommerce, retail/wholesale, etc)

SOFTWARE

Ideal applicants at least have 2+ years of experience working with the following or something similar:

  • ERP or inventory/order management software
  • Bill.com (AP/AR software)
  • Gusto.com
  • Xero accounting or Quickbooks Online
  • US GAAP accounting 
  • Inventory Planner or DEAR experience
  • Retail & eCommerce: Shopify, Amazon, SPS Commerce EDI
  • Admin/other: Google Suite, Slack, etc.

Some training provided but self-learning is a must:

  • Airtable
  • ClickUp
