Amazon's Selection Monitoring team is responsible for making the biggest catalog on the planet even bigger. Our systems process billions of products to algorithmically find products not already sold on Amazon and programmatically add them to the Amazon catalog. We apply distributed processing, machine learning and LLMs to identify and prioritize products and brands we should add to Amazon's catalog.

Teams across Amazon worldwide consume our datasets and systems to improve: product information, search and discoverability, pricing, and delivery experience. Our work involves building LLM based systems to mine the web and automatically create structured entities from un-structure/semi-structured data. We constantly stretch the boundaries of large-scale distributed systems, Elastic Computing and Big Data to tackle challenges at Amazon's global scale.

We are looking for a Software Development Manager (SDM) to tackle difficult problems in the areas of distributed systems, efficient large-scale data processing, data dependency and flow control systems, flexible and serverless compute with impact across Amazon. This is a tremendous opportunity for SDMs who want to lead and grow a team of talented SDEs to build a reliable and scalable solutions to enhance selection for our customers.
Key job responsibilities
- Partner with Principal Engineers, Sr.SDEs, and Product and Program Management to define and grow the technical and architectural vision for Selection Monitoring's mission-critical systems driving the brand and product experience on Amazon.
- Deliver and own scalable, fault-tolerant, and highly available services that underpin our large-scale data processing solutions.
- Build and own systems for Data discovery and lifecycle management of hundreds of datasets spanning several Petabytes.
- Develop solutions to efficiently deploy and orchestrate hundreds of application flows across a hybrid set of compute environments.
- Utilize serverless and container technologies to build next-gen scalable compute layer solutions.
- Build and grow a team of high performing SDEs, and be responsible and invested in career growth of your team members.
- Drive operational excellence initiative and continuously improve quality bar for software delivered by the team.
