JD for Planner – Transport Network Planning & Optimization

Job summary

Skillset should be comparative to existing LH Strategic Planners and include planning of SONET, DWDM, MetroE, IP, TDM, OSP/ISP for project development of full site exits. 

Existing knowledge of Client applications, processes and architectures is preferred.

Candidates should have knowledge of the Adtran/Adva R7 platform and extensive experience in Ciena 6500 planning.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Plan, deploy, and commission transport equipment related to DWDM technologies across multi-vendor platforms such as Ciena, Alcatel-Lucent/Nokia, Infinera, Adva, etc.
  • Develop strategic plans for Long-haul and Metro DWDM route / rail builds.
  • Work with various inventory management / design systems, like PRO, RSI, TIRKS, and EON.
  • Plan and install expansion shelves. Upgrade existing transport equipment to meet current demands and propose additional equipment for future growth.
  • Participate in network consolidation efforts and provide practical solutions that optimize path/route selection to reduce network costs.
  • Perform in-depth data cleansing and validation, identifying and resolving discrepancies between inventory records and actual network configurations.
  • Plan and implement network-wide migrations from legacy to newer platform equipment.
  • Plan and optimize wave design across multi-vendor DWDM systems.
  • Review the Diversity, Latency and Custom Routing factors for network and customer circuits.
  • Analyze day-to-day production issues, create case studies for continuous improvement, and address them promptly.
  • Prepare Method of Procedures, activity plans, process documents and automations.
  • Handle project tasks and problems, analyze data, evaluate potential solutions, and implement the most optimal resolution.
  • Collaborate with peer groups such as Field, OSP, and Infrastructure Planning team
