A Remote Aircraft Lease Return refers to the process of returning a leased aircraft to the lessor at a location that is not the original base or lessor's facility, often utilizing digital tools and remote inspections. This process allows for the aircraft’s condition to be assessed and documented without requiring all parties to be physically present. It streamlines the lease return process, especially for international or geographically distant operators, and can help reduce costs and logistical challenges. Technologies such as video conferencing, digital records, and remote inspection equipment are commonly used to facilitate this process.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote aircraft lease return specialist?

Familiarity with maintenance tracking software, digital documentation systems, and regulatory compliance platforms is typically required. Strong attention to detail, negotiation skills, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for coordinating with stakeholders and ensuring accurate documentation. These skills ensure that aircraft are returned in compliance with lease terms, minimizing disputes and financial risk for all parties involved.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Asset Event Manager & Planner owns the full lease asset lifecycle for JSSI Parts & Engines, from forward demand planning through lease execution and return. This role maintains the rolling 18-month asset demand forecast and matches available assets to confirmed and unplanned customer needs, then carries each event through delivery, active lease management, and post-lease return.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demand Planning & Fleet Availability

  • Maintain a rolling 18-month forecast of lease asset demand, coordinating with the JSSI Technical team on scheduled maintenance events, customer contracts, and anticipated requirements.
  • Build and manage the asset availability schedule, tracking assets on lease, in maintenance, in storage, or available for deployment.
  • Work with the Maintenance & Airworthiness Manager to maintain an accurate picture of asset airworthiness status and incorporate constraints into the plan.
  • Identify potential supply gaps early and coordinate with Tech and Product Lines on alternate solutions.
  • Respond to unplanned lease requirements with urgency, reprioritizing and shuffling assets across the portfolio to close coverage gaps.

Lease Execution & Customer Ownership

  • Confirm asset requirements, configuration, and delivery location with the customer and JSSI Tech team, then initiate the lease event.
  • Work with JSSI Legal to prepare and execute the lease agreement with the lessor; confirm a valid Certificate of Insurance prior to shipment.
  • Arrange shipping and logistics, and serve as the customer's primary point of contact for the full lease term.
  • Coordinate monthly billing, including lease hour recordings and timely invoicing.
  • Coordinate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance with the client, and manage the post-lease inspection, return, and redeployment handoff to Maintenance & Airworthiness.

Cross-Functional & Systems

  • Keep AvSight and Traxxall current and accurate across the full asset lifecycle, from planning through lease close.
  • Partner with Asset Management, Legal, Finance, Logistics, Tech, and Maintenance & Airworthiness to keep events moving without escalation.
  • Participate in planning reviews with Asset Management leadership, providing forward visibility into fleet coverage and risk.
  • Support development of operating procedures, customer documentation, and the lease operations manual.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • 4+ years of experience in aviation operations, planning, leasing, or a client-facing asset management role.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a dynamic forward schedule and complex, multi-party transactions from initiation through close.
  • Strong organizational skills; able to manage multiple assets, timelines, stakeholders, and active lease events concurrently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable engaging technical, commercial, and customer-facing audiences.
  • Proficiency with planning, scheduling, or operational documentation systems; able to learn proprietary platforms quickly.

Preferred

  • Experience in aviation, MRO, aerospace, or a capital-intensive asset management environment.
  • Familiarity with engine or aircraft maintenance cycles, airworthiness requirements, lease agreement structures, and logbook standards.
  • Experience with Traxxall, AvSight, or comparable aviation maintenance and inventory platforms.
  • Experience coordinating insurance requirements (COI) and logistics for high-value equipment
  • Forward Thinking & Customer Ownership — balances a long-range demand view with full accountability for the client relationship through lease close.
  • Adaptability resets quickly when unplanned requirements arrive; does not let disruption cascade downstream.
  • Cross-Functional Effectiveness works fluidly across maintenance, technical, legal, finance, and logistics teams without requiring escalation.
  • Data Discipline keeps AvSight and Traxxall current; treats accurate data as a condition of good field outcomes, not an afterthought.
  • Judgment & Process Discipline knows when to reshuffle or resolve independently versus escalate, and follows and improves established procedures.
