What are some common challenges faced by remote ad trafficking professionals, and how can they be addressed?

Remote ad trafficking professionals often encounter challenges such as coordinating effectively across time zones, managing multiple ad campaigns with tight deadlines, and troubleshooting technical issues without immediate in-person support. These challenges can be addressed by leveraging robust project management tools, maintaining clear and consistent communication with team members and clients, and staying up-to-date with ad server technologies and industry best practices. Proactively setting expectations and scheduling regular check-ins can also help ensure smooth campaign execution and foster strong collaboration within a distributed team.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Ad Trafficker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Ad Trafficker, you need a strong understanding of digital advertising operations, campaign management, and data analysis, often supported by a degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. Familiarity with ad servers (such as Google Ad Manager), trafficking platforms, and relevant certifications like Google Ads or IAB Digital Media Sales certification is highly valuable. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective remote communication are crucial soft skills for managing multiple campaigns and collaborating with clients and teams. These abilities ensure accurate campaign execution, timely delivery, and optimal performance in the dynamic digital advertising landscape.

While both roles require digital marketing knowledge and certifications, Ad Trafficking emphasizes campaign management, whereas Media Buying centers on media planning and purchasing decisions.

What is remote ad trafficking?

Remote ad trafficking is the process of managing, scheduling, and monitoring digital advertising campaigns from a remote location, rather than working onsite. Ad traffickers use specialized platforms and software to upload creative assets, set up targeting parameters, and ensure that ads are delivered correctly across websites, apps, or other digital channels. Working remotely allows ad traffickers to collaborate with clients, media buyers, and creative teams from anywhere, while still ensuring campaign accuracy and performance. This role requires attention to detail, technical skills, and the ability to troubleshoot any issues that arise during the campaign lifecycle.

As an Ad Operations Specialist, you will be essential to scaling customer acquisition efforts by ensuring the flawless and efficient launch of high-impact paid campaigns.

This role involves owning the execution and optimization of digital media campaigns in our ad server and paid media platforms.

Responsibilities include campaign setup, budget management, optimization to campaign KPIs, audience targeting integration and reporting.

You will act as a proactive self-starter, managing multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment to facilitate business growth.

Qualifications & Technical Expertise

A successful candidate will have:

  • Expert-level proficiency and hands-on experience with Google Campaign Manager 360 (CM360)
  • Deep expertise in DSPs like Display & Video 360 (DV360), The Trade Desk (TTD) and major social platforms including Meta (Facebook/Instagram), LinkedIn, and Reddit.
  • 3-6 years of dedicated experience in Ad Operations, Digital Media Operations, or Ad Technology roles.
  • Comfort with HTML, JavaScript, rich media formats, VAST/VPAID for video, and current cookie/privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA).
  • Exceptional candidates will have experience with LiveRamp, Bomobra, Demandbase and other ABM or Audience focused vendors.

Key Responsibilities

1. Campaign Execution & Traffic Management

  • Meticulously build and launch campaigns, ad sets, and individual ads across key channels.
  • Manage the technical pipeline of performance marketing initiatives, contributing directly to the growth of a sophisticated e-commerce business.
  • Oversee audience targeting integration, manage audience match rates across platforms (TTD, Meta, Google/YouTube), and curate segments using tools like LiveRamp.

2. Technical Quality Assurance (QA) & Troubleshooting

  • Lead the technical QA process for all ad creative—including static, rich media, video, and third-party tags—to ensure they meet standards and fire correctly across web, mobile, and app platforms.
  • Systematically investigate and reconcile data discrepancies between the Google Ad Server, DSPs, and publisher reporting systems.
  • Be able to resolve complex ad-serving, tracking, and reporting issues with internal teams and external partners.

3. Performance Optimization & Reporting

  • Monitor and optimize campaigns to ensure they run without issue, managing budget pacing to avoid under/overspend, and hit campaign KPIs successfully.
  • Utilize Excel/Google Sheets for data manipulation and deliver standardized or custom reports from the Google Ad Server to provide performance insights.
  • Work closely with Campaign Strategists to create media plans based on historical performance data.
  • Document and implement scalable best practices for campaign trafficking and naming conventions to reduce human error.

Professional Attributes

  • Exceptional level of organization and meticulous attention-to-detail for error-free trafficking.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for managing diverse stakeholder groups and fostering internal and external relationships.
