A community-focused hospital is seeking an experienced Director of Med-Surg to provide strategic and operational leadership for its Medical-Surgical Department in Soldotna, Alaska. The Director of Med-Surg is responsible for planning, directing, supervising, and participating in the activities of the Medical-Surgical Department to ensure exceptional patient care and operational excellence.
Working closely with Nursing Administration and organizational leadership, this individual will establish departmental goals, oversee clinical operations, ensure regulatory compliance, support quality initiatives, and align nursing services with the hospital's mission and strategic objectives.

Compensation & Incentives
- $25,000 Relocation Assistance
- $10,000 Critical Position Bonus
- Participation in Director-Level Incentive Compensation Plan
- Annual incentive opportunity of up to 10% of earnings
- Salary range: $127,300 โ $151,548 annually (based on experience)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for all Med-Surg department operations
- Direct and support nursing staff to ensure high-quality patient care
- Collaborate with hospital departments, physicians, community healthcare professionals, and leadership teams
- Develop and implement departmental goals and strategic initiatives
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and quality standards
- Manage staffing, budgeting, scheduling, and operational resources
- Lead performance improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives
- Foster staff development, engagement, and retention
- Support a culture of safety, accountability, and clinical excellence
Requirements
- Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required
- Experience
- Minimum 3 years of acute care nursing experience
- Minimum 2 years of Director, Manager, or progressive nursing leadership experience in a Medical-Surgical or Acute Care setting
- Licensure & Certifications
- Active Alaska RN License or eligibility to obtain
- BLS Certification (AHA)
- ACLS Certification (AHA)
- PALS Certification within 6 months of hire
