Field Power Generation Technician - Diesel/Gaseous Systems (Journeyman Level)

Looking to escape the shop and do real fieldwork that matters? Join our elite team powering Alaska's most remote and vital operations-from telecom to defense, from first responders to remote communities. We're hiring a Field Power Generation Technician with deep technical skills in diesel and gaseous power systems. No vehicle repair. No fleet maintenance. Just true generator expertise.


You'll work out of Anchorage, AK and travel up to 75% to support customers across the state. For the right candidate, relocation assistance is available.


What You'll Do:
  • Diagnose, repair, and overhaul diesel and gaseous generator systems in the field
  • Troubleshoot AC/DC electrical systems, engine control panels, and switchgear
  • Conduct load bank testing, performance assessments, and system upgrades
  • Complete full generator rebuilds and PMs (preventive maintenance)
  • Travel across Alaska (remote, rugged conditions) to support mission-critical systems
  • Accurately document service reports and maintain compliance with safety protocols
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • 3-5+ years of hands-on experience with generator systems, preferably field-based
  • Strong understanding of AC/DC electrical systems, AVRs, transfer switches, and switchgear
  • Capable of engine overhauls and using diagnostic tools independently
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively (including multi-week field assignments)
  • Must own relevant tools or be able to build a personal tool inventory
Desired Skills & Extras:
  • Associate degree in Diesel Technology, Power Generation, or Electrical/Mechanical fields
  • Experience working in harsh environments or remote field service settings
  • EGSA Journeyman certification 
  • OEM certifications (e.g., MTU, Cat, Cummins/Onan, Kohler, John Deere, ASCO, Clark, EMD, Waukesha, Volvo-Penta, Perkins)
  • Knowledge of NFPA, NEC, or NETA standards
  • Military or defense industry service background a plus
Job Details:
  • Compensation: $35.50 - $48.00/hour (DOE)
  • Sign-On Bonus: Up to $10,000
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday with field deployments (2-3 weeks at a time)
