ROLE SUMMARY:

As the Packaging Reliability Manager at our Baldwinsville Brewery, you will be responsible for the reliability, maintenance strategy, and continuous improvement of all packaging line equipment and associated systems. This position partners closely with Packaging, Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations teams to develop and sustain reliability programs that maximize equipment uptime, improve line performance, and optimize maintenance costs across the packaging operation.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the packaging operation in achieving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to equipment reliability, line efficiency, maintenance performance, and continuous improvement.

  • Lead the implementation and standardization of maintenance best practices and reliability-centered maintenance processes across packaging assets.

  • Serve as the site subject matter expert for equipment reliability, root cause failure analysis, and Six Sigma problem-solving methodologies.

  • Develop and execute reliability strategies for high-speed packaging equipment, including fillers, packers, palletizers, depalletizers, conveyors, labelers, and associated automation systems.

  • Support the coordination, prioritization, and delivery of technical training programs for maintenance trades and operations personnel.

  • Actively coach and mentor maintenance and operations teams to build reliability-focused capabilities and technical expertise.

  • Ensure preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs are understood, executed, and continuously improved.

  • Partner with Engineering and Operations on capital projects, equipment upgrades, and lifecycle planning, including development of business cases and return-on-investment analyses.

  • Maintain and enhance the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring accurate asset data, reporting, and user training.

  • Monitor equipment performance trends, analyze reliability data, and drive corrective actions to eliminate chronic losses and failures.

  • Drive improvements in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), asset utilization, and maintenance cost management.

  • Own and manage departmental Maintenance ZBB and VIC budgets.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience leading maintenance and reliability programs within a high-speed manufacturing, packaging, food and beverage, consumer products, or similar production environment.

  • Demonstrated experience implementing maintenance best practices, reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Experience supporting packaging equipment and production systems, including automation, controls, and industrial electrical systems.

  • Experience coaching, developing, and training skilled trades in a unionized manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, electrical controls, PLCs, automation, and predictive maintenance technologies.

  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills with experience conducting root cause analysis and developing business cases.

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
