Apple Rehab Coccomo, is a 100 bed skilled nursing community, nestled into the beautiful woods of Meriden, CT. Easily accessible from routes 91, 691 and 15, Apple Rehab Coccomo has a reputation for excellent care in the community. Job Description:

Together with the Therapeutic Recreation Director, the Recreation Assistant assists in the development and execution of therapeutic recreational services to all residents with supervision in accordance with federal, state and local standards. Helps ensure the highest quality recreation program is provided.

The Recreation Assistant assists in the development of a full range of therapeutic recreational programs and activities for all residents with appropriate concern for residents’ physical and emotional limitations, and individual interests. Ensures observance of religious days, social events, national holidays and traditional celebrations when planning residents’ calendar of events. Utilizes community support in establishing volunteer programs and intergenerational events. Encourages resident participation in therapeutic recreational activities. Carries out activities appropriate to resident’s level of functioning.

The Recreation Assistant knows and complies with the Residents’ Bill of Rights. Through Resident Council, advises and instructs the residents on issues and changes pertaining to Residents Bill of Rights and their responsibilities. Maintains confidentiality and privacy in reporting of Resident Council minutes and care plan issues. Reports immediately to supervisor all resident grievances and complaints. Fosters feeling of self-worth and respect by treating residents with kindness and understanding.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a vehicle and a valid drivers’ license and a safe driving record.
  • Ability to provide rotating weekend coverage of recreation activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess at least one year experience in rehabilitative or geriatric setting.
