Job description

The Receptionist greets all patients as they enter the lab for services. The Receptionist is responsible for answering questions, assisting patients and directing calls to all appropriate representatives. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for greeting patients and delivering a positive patient customer service experience.
  • Respond to inquiries from patients, visitors and employees and refer, when necessary, to the appropriate person or department.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies, HIPAA regulations and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintains working relationship and communication with other departments.
  • Accurate capturing of patient demographics information, insurance information and structured data into the patient chart at each patient encounter.
  • Sign in all visitors and notify the party with whom they are to see.
  • Prompt follow up of telephone encounters/actions.
  • Performs duties in various areas (reports, copying forms, etc.) of the practice as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Manager

Education and Work Experience:

 

1.     High school diploma or related field experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

1.     Strong PC skills including high proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel and Access.)

2.     Superior spreadsheets skills and a good knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

3.     Excellent verbal and written communication skills are mandatory.

4.     Must be detail oriented and comfortable working in fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.

5.     Teamwork collaboration is essential to the organization, so it is critical that the manager communicates and interacts well with other team members and is able to build positive relationships across all levels within the organization.

6.     Must possess excellent organizational skills and be extremely flexible to meet customer demands, in addition to being able to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a changing environment with a high degree of accuracy.
