Maxime’s is a private member’s club by entrepreneur Robin Birley, located on the Upper East Side in Manhattan, New York City.

We are seeking a friendly and professional Receptionist to join our team. Reporting to the Reception Manager, the Receptionist delivers exceptional reception and hosting services, ensuring an elevated and seamless member experience while upholding Maxime’s standards.

What we're looking for:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following and may change or be adjusted at any time:

  • Ensure smooth and efficient running of reception operations.
  • Welcome members and guests warmly, always using correct name/title.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of club policies and ensure adherence by members and guests.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate signing-in procedures for all visitors.
  • Manage bookings, guest lists, and function sheets with attention to detail.
  • Direct guests appropriately and coordinate arrivals to ensure smooth flow.
  • Handle reservations, calls, and email correspondence professionally.
  • Manage and resolve guest enquiries and issues calmly and efficiently.
  • Ensure all reception communications are handled promptly and accurately.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of reception and cloakroom.
  • Support enforcement of dress code and club policies in a professional manner.
  • Liaise with internal teams to coordinate service delivery.
  • Consistently demonstrate warmth and professionalism in all interactions.

Reception Ambience

  • Maintain high standards of presentation and cleanliness.
  • Ensure appropriate lighting, music, and temperature.
  • Monitor operational details such as canopy use and guest flow.
  • Handle alarms or escalate issues when necessary.

Minimum qualifications (education, experience, skills) 

  • Minimum 2+ years in luxury hospitality or similar role.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain composed under pressure.
  • Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Knowledge of reception systems.
