Job description

The Senior Recall Broker serves as the primary liaison between insurers and clients for product recall, contamination, and product defect risks. This individual is responsible for managing complex client relationships, deploying specialized placement expertise, and driving growth within the recall and product defect portfolio.

Acts in a senior capacity on key accounts, advising clients on risk mitigation, recall preparedness, and crisis response strategies. Leads the placement of highly specialized recall risks, performs policy contract reviews, and negotiates competitive terms and conditions tailored to recall exposures.

Provides strategic input into recall product development and placement strategy at a national level. Serves as a thought leader in recall risk, supply chain vulnerabilities, and regulatory trends. 

Provides leadership, insight, and direction for recall broking activities to ensure client expectations are consistently exceeded. Operates independently on complex accounts, while helping to develop team capability and maintain adherence to regulatory and technical standards.

Role

  • Lead placement strategy for product recall, contamination, and product defect programs including new business, renewals, and mid-term changes
  • Advise clients on risk exposure related to product safety, supply chain disruption, contamination events, and regulatory compliance
  • Analyze client operations, manufacturing processes, and distribution networks to identify recall vulnerabilities and recommend risk transfer solutions
  • Design bespoke recall insurance programs, including first-party recall costs, third-party liabilities, business interruption, and brand rehabilitation
  • Develop and deliver client presentations focused on recall preparedness, crisis response planning, and insurance program optimization
  • Oversee the preparation of submissions and marketing materials tailored to recall underwriters
  • Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with insurers specializing in recall and crisis management risks
  • Maintain strong relationships with key insurers, crisis consultancy firms, legal advisors, and testing laboratories to deliver comprehensive solutions
  • Stay informed on global regulatory developments (FDA, USDA, CPSC, EU product safety directives, etc.) impacting recall exposure
  • Support clients during recall events by coordinating with insurers and external partners to ensure efficient claims response
  • Conduct program peer reviews and ensure quality control in coverage structure and documentation
  • Collaborate with cross-line specialty teams (cyber, supply chain, product liability) to provide integrated solutions

The Requirements:  

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's Degree preferred (risk management, business, or related field preferred)
  • 7+ years of insurance broking experience; recall, product liability, or specialty lines experience strongly preferred
  • Property & Casualty license required
  • Strong knowledge of product recall insurance, contamination risks, and crisis management solutions
  • Familiarity with regulatory environments affecting product safety and recalls

Compensation

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $85,000-$165,000 USD per year.

This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
