Raw Materials Supervisor - Steelmaking Operations

Location: Bartonville/Peoria, IL

Department: Raw Materials & Stockers

Type: Full-time | Salaried

Compensation: $56,000 - $71,000 | Job Grade 21

Bonus: 12% Discretionary Target Bonus

Schedule: Rotating shifts | Must be available for nights, weekends, and holidays as needed - overtime opportunities

Do you lead with safety, precision, and accountability? We're hiring a Raw Materials Supervisor to oversee scrap handling, yard operations, and the critical material flow that fuels steelmaking. This role directly manages 5 salaried shift supervisors and approximately 40 union employees, ensuring alignment with safety, production, and cost performance goals.

What You'll Do

Supervise daily operations in Raw Materials and Stockers departments

Ensure a safe work environment and promote zero-incident culture

Maintain accurate inventory records and scrap yard accountability

Complete detailed daily shift reports for steelmaking scrap handling

Coordinate manpower and scheduling to reduce downtime and maximize efficiency

Implement productivity and cost reduction strategies

Monitor and enforce adherence to safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping

Support cross-functional collaboration with Steelmaking, Maintenance, and Accounting

What We're Looking For

Experience:

Associate degree + 6+ months in scrap/steelmaking supervision

OR High school diploma + 3+ years of scrap yard or steelmaking operations experience

Leadership:

Supervisory experience in a unionized, industrial environment preferred

Tech Skills:

Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to navigate basic computer systems

Communication:

Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting, instruction, and collaboration

Reasoning & Math:

Solid problem-solving skills and ability to apply basic algebra, geometry, and inventory math
