Job description

Job Overview

Andrus seeks an experienced temporary Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge (RE NXT) Database Administrator to provide short-term support to our Advancement team. This role will stabilize day-to-day database operations, strengthen data quality, support gift processing and acknowledgements, and ensure accurate reporting for fundraising and stewardship.

Temp Assignment Duration:3-6 Months

Essential Duties

Key duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Database administration and data integrity

  • Administer and maintain Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge / RE NXT database functions, configuration, and user support.
  • Run regular data audits and implement clean-up processes (duplicates, incomplete records, coding consistency).
  • Maintain and improve data entry standards, naming conventions, solicitation codes, campaign/fundraising designations, and constituent coding.

Gift processing and acknowledgement support

  • Support gift entry workflows include batches, appeals, designations, soft credits, tributes, pledges, payments, and matching gifts.
  • Partner with Advancement staff to ensure timely, accurate acknowledgements and receipt.
  • Troubleshoot data issues that impact gift processing, reporting, and donor communications.

Reporting and dashboards

  • Create and run standard and ad hoc queries, exports, and reports for fundraising performance, stewardship, moves management, and event reporting.
  • Support the team with lists for mail/email campaigns and donor segmentation.
  • Provide concise weekly updates on progress, issues, and recommendations.

User support and documentation

  • Provide hands-on support to staff using RE/RE NXT (best practices, troubleshooting, quick training).
  • Document workflows, data standards, and “how-to” guides for continuity after the assignment ends.
  • Identify process improvements and quick wins to streamline database and gift operations.

Essential Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands-on Raiser’s Edge (RE or RE NXT) administration experience in a nonprofit Advancement/Fundraising setting.
  • Demonstrated experience with gift processing (batches, appeals, pledges, tributes, designations, acknowledgements/receipting).
  • Strong skills in queries, exports, and reporting within RE/RE NXT.
  • Proven ability to improve data integrity (deduping, audit processes, coding standards).
  • High attention to detail, sound judgment with confidential data, and excellent follow-through.
  • Familiarity with email/marketing platforms and imports/exports to RE.
  • Prior short-term “database clean-up” or stabilization engagements.
  • Knowledge of fundraising operations best practices (gift acceptance, receipting rules, audit readiness).
