We're looking for our next News Radio Production Intern!


What you'll be doing:

The radio news production intern will work directly with the producer, managing editor, broadcast programming associate and on-air talent to create, produce and broadcast content for our station. The intern will gain audio and digital experience in public media broadcasting and news content. Hours are flexible and work may be hybrid - a blend of remote and in-office work. In summary, this individual will:

  • Assist with pre-production tasks, including research, show rundowns, guest preparation and script development.
  • Support board operations, recording sessions and scheduling/booking guests for live and pre-recorded programs
  • Participate in audio editing and post-production, including reviewing audio levels, trimming segments, and preparing content for broadcast and digital platforms
  • Collaborate with producers to generate interview questions, show topics and segment ideas that align with station standards
  • Assist in maintaining show integrity through fact-checking, quality control and adherence to FCC regulations
  • Observe and participate in live studio operations, including control board usage and digital production software (ENCO, Adobe Audition, etc)
  • Support social media and digital content distribution as needed
  • Perform administrative and operational tasks as assigned, such as program log review, show archiving and assisting on-location production

What you'll need:

  • Enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in journalism, communications, media or related field - *must be qualifying for college/university course credit, documentation required
  • Familiarity and general interest in audio production and its digital distribution, community journalism, reaching underserved populations
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office or similar programs
  • Creative, approachable, team-focused, professional demeanor
