Building Services Assistant
City: Hammond
Job Description:
Overview of Building Services Assistant
The Building Services Department at PNW is seeking a Building Services Assistant to join their team!
Schedule:
  • This current posted position will be working Monday - Friay, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Pay range:
  • $17.00 - $18.25 per hour. Day shift positions do not receive shift differential and parking fees do apply.

Duties and Responsibilities of Building Services Assistant
  • Setup & Dismantle furniture and equipment for events
  • Work directly with event sponsors and customers for any special needs during the event
  • Work with scheduling department to identify customer expectations
  • Provide support to the University for office, furniture, and equipment moves
  • Work directly with the customer to determine time of delivery and placement of furniture or equipment
  • Perform custodial functions in assigned buildings/areas in accordance with attached standard operating procedures. Types of custodial activities include but are not limited to: Mopping, sweeping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors. Disinfecting toilets and sinks. Cleaning walls and washing windows. Areas include but are not limited to: Stairwells, lounges, hallways and gym, Offices, Classrooms/Conference rooms, Laboratories, Vending/lounges, Restrooms, Library, Cafeteria/dining. Replenish restroom supplies.
  • Safely use cleaning chemicals, load and chemical dispensers, deliver supplies to areas as needed
  • Operate and maintain power and non-power equipment: which include mops, shovels, brooms, pressure washers, scrubbers, power floor sweepers, shampoos, vacuums, high speed floor machines, buffers, walk behind floor machines and floor machine riders
  • Works with little supervision and assumes primarily responsibility to meet the custodial needs of the building occupants during assigned shift Perform floor preparation, care and maintenance of public areas, which include but are not limited to entranceways, stairwells, lounges, hallways.
  • Respond to Customer Service Calls throughout the day, in response to customer needs. Utilize excellent customer service skills when communicating with faculty, staff, students and other internal and external departmental stakeholders.
  • Perform recycling duties which include but not limited to pick up and emptying of recycling bins throughout various building on campus.
  • Operate University Vehicles
  • Must be able to travel to other PNW locations as needed.
  • Report building damages, problems, and or needs to supervisor on shift
  • Perform clean up after floods, vandalism, fires, etc.
  • Work overtime periodically to meet the business needs of the University

Secondary Duties:
  • Assist General Services in the operation of Mail Services & Package Delivery, Shipping & Receiving
  • Assist Grounds in general tasks and snow removal and Maintenance in general tasks as needed

Education
  • Requires High school diploma/GED

Experience
  • One-year experience in custodial or event support or moving support
  • Prior work in an educational environment is preferred
