Overview

As the only aerial tramway in Southeast Alaska, guests at the Goldbelt Tram are invited to soar to new heights in scenic adventure aboard Juneau's top attraction. We offer locals and visitors an opportunity to experience breathtaking Alaska scenery, explore the miles of trails atop Mount Roberts, and learn more about Alaska Native culture.

Summary

Responsible for providing tour and local visitor information and assistance, and ticketing services and sales, to guests at the Tramway. Full-time and part-time positions available.

Part-time and full-time schedules are available.

We're excited to share that the job is based in beautiful Juneau, Alaska! We kindly ask that all applicants either live in Juneau or be open to relocating at their own expense.

Pay and Benefits:

Seasonal Employees are eligible for the Seasonal Employee Layoff Bonus Plan. The plan is designed to provide an effective means to motivate and compensate eligible seasonal employees during the term of their assignment. However, Goldbelt, Inc. may, in certain limited circumstances, grant discretionary performance bonuses outside of this program, in the sole discretion of the Company.

Starting Rate: $15.00 - DOE

Responsibilities

Job Duties

  • Ensure that each customer receives prompt and courteous service.
  • People-oriented and able to provide superior customer service.
  • Display a positive attitude that is contagious, speaking highly of the company in the presence of customers or other associates.
  • Responsible for a balanced drawer.
  • Uses accuracy when ringing up a sale and counting back cash money. Use diplomacy when a customer's credit card is declined.
  • Maintain an excellent customer service level to all incoming and outgoing cruise ship, special group or local passengers, meets and greets all potential tramway guests; provides tram and visitor information; gives directions to the viewing areas, gift shops, restaurant, and other locations; explains the details of the Full tramway experience. At the lower terminal, provides ticketing services and sales, explaining the various products or services available for purchase within the aerial tramway, including tramway transportation, tours we sell for other companies, theater viewing, restaurant products, etc.; collects (and reconciles at end of shift) cash, check, purchase order and credit card payments; issues tickets, season passes, vendor and employee badges as necessary.
  • Constantly applies effective practices and techniques of providing excellent customer service to all incoming and outgoing passengers; seeks and follows advice provided by the Lead Host of Lead Ticket Agent in improving customer service skills and becoming more familiar with tour and visitor information.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to meet time and attendance requirements.
  • Ability to work all different shifts including holidays and weekends.
  • Abilities to attend all scheduled meetings, orientations and training sessions.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to learn, understand, and follow oral and written instructions/directions.
  • Skill in operating personal computer utilizing a variety of computer software.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
  • Ability to work directly with the public, providing information and assistance on a daily basis.
  • Ability to handle stress under pressure.
  • Ability/willingness to learn and pass on to guests those areas of interest to visitors, such as local history, people, culture, geography, etc.

Minimum Qualifications (education, experience, skills)

  • Six (6) months of cash handling experience.
  • One (1) season of ticket agent or closely related experience involved with tourism, travel, and/or hospitality services.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check.

Preferrred Qualifications (education, experience, skills)

  • Current CPR and first aid certificates.
  • Previous experience working in the visitor or hospitality industry or other customer service related field.
