Location: Anchorage, Alaska - Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson

Type: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Day Shift

Compensation: $39.08 - $39.08 per hour

The Purchasing Agent will purchase goods and services according to contract policies and procedures.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Purchase goods and services according to the contract requirements.

  • Coordinate with managers to maintain inventory levels.

  • Evaluate vendors based on price, reliability, capability, and previous transaction history.

  • Work with appropriate teams to forecast the level of demand for services and products to meet business needs.

  • Continuously analyze inventory usage and balances.

  • Ensure that purchasing documents are complete and accurate and include appropriate and reasonable terms and conditions.

  • Manage day-to-day business relationships with key suppliers through supporting activities including ordering, communication of demand/volume/delivery time changes, issue resolution, sharing of end user feedback, and follow-up on backorders.

  • Maintain pricing history and other vendor records.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in purchasing, finance, or business preferred.

  • Three (3) years of purchasing experience preferred.

  • Must have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Must demonstrate a thorough understanding of purchasing procedures and policies.

Physical Requirements:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.

  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.

  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
