How much do public health analyst jobs pay per year?
What Does a Public Health Analyst Do?
As a public health analyst, you support the health of the general public by using data to suggest policies to the appropriate legislative or regulatory entities. Public health analysts often work with or for the government to address topics like environmental hazards, infectious diseases, substance abuse, and access to health care. Many public health analysts also communicate with community groups and service providers, produce news releases, help manage projects, and fulfill additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. Most public health analysts work regular hours, but employers may call you in to respond to emerging health threats like outbreaks of infectious diseases.
What does a Public Health Analyst do?
How do Public Health Analysts typically collaborate with other professionals and organizations to achieve project goals?
What is the difference between Public Health Analyst vs Epidemiologist?
| Aspect | Public Health Analyst | Epidemiologist |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | Bachelor's or Master's in Public Health, Health Sciences, or related fields | Master's or Doctorate in Epidemiology or Public Health |
| Work Environment | Government agencies, research institutions, healthcare organizations | Public health departments, research settings, academia |
| Employer & Industry Usage | Used across public health sectors for data analysis and policy support | Focused on disease patterns, outbreak investigations, and research |
Public Health Analysts and Epidemiologists both work in public health settings, often collaborating on health data and policies. While Analysts focus on data collection, analysis, and reporting to inform health programs, Epidemiologists specialize in studying disease patterns and investigating outbreaks. Both roles require strong analytical skills and public health knowledge, but Epidemiologists typically have advanced degrees and focus more on research and disease investigation.
