Job Description
The Staff Network Engineer operates the company's internal data communications systems, including LANs and WANs. This role is responsible for planning, designing, and implementing networked systems, including configurations, supporting and troubleshooting network problems, and coordinating with vendors for installation of routers, bridges, concentrators, and switches. The position involves working on project implementation, providing training, assisting with proposal writing, conducting project planning, cost analysis, and vendor comparisons.
All roles require digital fluency, including the ability to work with emerging technologies such as Generative AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot) to support everyday work.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, design, implement, and provide ongoing support for network systems of high complexity in extranet, commercial, and corporate environments to fulfill business needs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network-related problems, serving as an escalation point for operational teams.
  • Provide third-level technical support to network support teams and client institutions to resolve network issues and support the implementation of new network solutions.
  • Collaborate with project managers, account managers, security, and network support teams for engineering requirements and end-to-end technical oversight.
  • Develop and maintain operational runbooks, network design documentation, and processes for continuous improvement and best practices.
  • Assess and test new and evolving technologies for performance and cost benefits.
  • Participate in tasks related to change, incident, and problem management, including root-cause analysis and resolution.
  • Provide training and guidance to network support teams and conduct internal technical briefings.
  • Build and maintain relationships with global and virtual teams and third parties on network development or support issues.
  • Lead development, testing, and QA functions to ensure secure delivery and fulfillment of project expectations.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in designing, planning, documenting, and implementing LANs and WANs using the latest technology.
  • Experience with cloud service provider ecosystems (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure).
  • Experience with SD-WAN technologies.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP network protocols, including common application protocols.
  • Experience in high-availability networks in load-balanced, n-tier application environments.
  • Experience leading complex global projects from development through implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex systems and network environment issues.
  • Ability to write technical design and build documentation for all aspects of a technical infrastructure.
  • Ability to represent technical and business issues and solutions to multiple levels internally and externally to support strategic organizational plans.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Cisco certification or a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Engineering is preferred.
  • 3 years related experience in infrastructure/network environments and designing, planning, documenting, and implementing LANs and WANs.
  • Advanced process orientation and exhibited planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Python and Ansible experience.
  • ITIL certification preferred.

The estimated salary range for this position is $131,600.00 to $ 210,300.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.

Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements
This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements
This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
