Job description

ADVANCED PRACTICE PROVIDER - SPINE SURGERY

Our Orthopedic Spine Surgery practice is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our team. This role will be 2:1 APP coverage with a single physician and involves a blend of clinic, surgical, and administrative responsibilities, with opportunities for professional growth and autonomy over time. The selected candidate will be the second dedicated APP for this physician. 

The APP team works closely with a single spine surgeon and a dedicated clinical support staff, allowing for continuity of care and strong working relationships. The practice emphasizes mentorship, teamwork, education, and long-term professional development. APPs will progressively develop expertise across the continuum of spine care, including diagnosis and management, imaging interpretation, surgical decision-making, operative planning, first assist responsibilities, inpatient management, post-operative care, and complication management.

The position will include a highly competitive compensation with a full benefits package.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Clinic Duties

  • Clinics locations Blue Ash, Liberty, Mt. Auburn; Clinics typically start is 8:00 AM
  • Attend biweekly pre-op conferences to review upcoming surgical cases

2. Operating Room Assistance

  • Assist in surgeries
  • As Appropriate, complete post-operative orders and conduct neurological checks when patients awaken.

3. On-Call Responsibilities

  • Participate in office-based call pool

4. Rounding Duties

  • Conduct hospital rounds on post-operative patients as needed

5. Administrative Work

  • Assist in the management of patient queries, prescription refills.
  • Conduct peer-to-peer calls for insurance approvals when necessary

Education: Graduate from accredited Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.

License/Certification:

  • DEA license
  • BLS and ACLS certified

Physician Assistant: Graduate from accredited physician assistant program with a Master's Degree Physician Assistant Certification (verified by the National Commission or the Certification of Physician Assistant - NCCPA. Current, valid license (registration) by the state Medical Board of Ohio or applicable state medical board. Current Certificate to prescribe by the State Medical Board of Ohio.
